Breakups are hard, and it’s even harder to watch your ex happily move on and start seeing someone else. Such is the case for Kanye West, who’s had to spend the past few months watching his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, parading around with her new boyfriend, Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.

Despite their 13-year age gap, Kardashian and Davidson appear to be genuinely enjoying their recent time together. Alongside Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, as well as Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian, Kim and Pete only serve as further proof that scrawny, tattooed men are the arm candy du jour for Hollywood’s conventionally attractive women.

However, Kardashian and Davidson’s outings have all been shadowed by Ye’s callous behavior, consisting of multiple social media tirades, some burned bridges, a diss track, and more. To see how we got here, we have compiled a comprehensive timeline of the beef.

February 19th, 2021: The End of Kimye

After seven years of marriage and four kids between them, Ye and Kardashian officially filed for divorce. The news arrived on the heels of what Kardashian called a “bipolar episode,” in which the rapper tweeted that he’d been wanting to end their relationship: “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek [Mill] at the Warldolf [sic] for ‘prison reform,’” he wrote in a Twitter rant, possibly in reference to a criminal justice summit Kardashian and Mill went to in November 2018. Ye also accused Kardashian of attempting to get him committed into a mental health facility against his will.

October 9th, 2021: Live from New York

Kardashian and Davidson seemed to predict their own romance when the former hosted Saturday Night Live. In a lackluster sketch, the unlikely duo portrayed another eyebrow-raising pair: Aladdin and Jasmine. With Kardashian as the wealthy princess and Davidson as the lewd apple of her eye, the budding couple poke fun at Big Dick Energy and the Kar-Jenners’ dating history — ultimately upholding their newfound love with a brief kiss.

November 4th, 2021: The Recap

Ye offered his review of his ex’s SNL stint during an appearance on Drink Champs: “SNL making my wife say ‘I divorced him’ on TV because they just wanted to get that bar off,” he said. “I ain’t ever even seen the papers. We’re not even divorced… That ain’t no joke to me. My kids want their parents to stay together. I want us to be together.” Thus far, however, Davidson had been spared from the conversation.

November 18th, 2021: Meeting the Parents

Just three months after ending his whirlwind romance with Bridgerton breakout Phoebe Dynevor, Davidson confirmed his relationship with Kardashian when they were spotted holding hands while celebrating his 28th birthday at momager Kris Jenner’s house in Palm Springs.

January 6th, 2022: A Gem of a Rebound

Though Ye had been spotted with a handful of women since the announcement of his divorce, nothing shook the internet quite like his fling with Julia Fox. The actress — best known as Josh Safdie’s muse when he wrote Uncut Gems — penned an essay for Interview detailing their “instant connection,” which was followed by lavish outfits, hotspot dinner outings, and lots, lots of PDA. Less than a month later, Fox announced that the pair had amicably split.

January 15th, 2022: Sealed with a Diss

In his first release since his latest album Donda, Ye cemented his beef with Davidson on the long-awaited diss track, “Eazy.” “God saved me from that crash… Just so I can beat Pete Davidson’s ass,” West raps, referencing his 2002 head-on collision that inspired his breakout track “Through the Wire.” Not a good look, especially considering Ye got into a physical altercation with a fan the same week.

February 4th, 2022: Kim Issues a Retort

Acting up on social media is nothing new for Ye, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when he went on a tirade bashing Kardashian’s parenting skills, and of course, her new beau. After a series of since-deleted posts, Kardashian then slammed her ex for his “constant attacks on [her] in interviews and on social media.”

“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver of our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness,” she wrote, though with no mention of Davidson.

February 12th, 2022: The Friend of My Enemy Is My Enemy

Ye might be 44 years old, but he is absolutely not above some petty drama. Although he and Kid Cudi made an entire album together back in 2018, Ye announced that he his frequent collaborator wouldn’t be featured on the forthcoming Donda 2 because “he’s friends with you-know-who,” the “who” in question being Davidson. Cudi kept his response short and to-the-point: “Too bad I don’t want to be on ur album u fuckin dinosaur hahaha.”

February 13th, 2022: Watch the Phone

The week of Valentine’s Day is hard for any newly single folks, but Ye truly outdid himself by posting upwards of 50 posts on Instagram attacking Kardashian and Davidson. In addition to encouraging his fans to harass Davidson, Ye mocked the comedian’s tattoos, accused him of sleeping with Hillary Clinton, alleged the baseless rumor that Davidson sent intimate photos of himself and Ariana Grande to Mac Miller, taunted Davidson’s close pal Machine Gun Kelly, and offered SNL castmate Michael Che double his current salary to leave the show.

March 2nd, 2022: The Video For “Eazy” Arrives

In the first video for “Eazy,” Kanye kidnaps a claymation version of Davidson and buried him alive. He later takes to Instagram to state: “Art is therapy just like this view… art is protected as freedom of speech… art inspires and simplifies the world… Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm….Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended 🖤.”

March 10th, 2022: Another Video For “Eazy” Arrives

In the second video for “Eazy,” he once again beats up Davidson, this time in bizarre CGI form. ‘Nuff said.

March 13th, 2022: The Rebuttal

At last, Davidson responded to Ye. In a text exchange shared by Davidson’s friend Dave Sirus, the comedian urged the rapper to “grow the fuck up”: “I’ve decided I’m not gonna let you treat us like this anymore and I’m done being quiet,” he wrote. When Ye inquired about Davidson’s whereabouts, he responded in the best way possible: “In bed with your wife,” alongside a shirtless selfie.

Despite his snide remark, Davidson attempted to make amends with Ye by proposing a one-on-one meeting in his hotel room to “talk it out” and discussing his own experiences struggling with mental health while in the limelight. “I have your back even though you treat me like shit because I want everything to be smooth,” Davidson wrote to conclude his text. “But if you continue to press me like you have the past 6 months I’m gonna stop being nice,” he said.
