Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston dated just long enough to get dubbed "HiddleSwift" during their short-lived romance in summer 2016.

Just a few weeks after splitting from deejay and music producer Calvin Harris, Swift moved on with Hiddleston after meeting at the 2016 Met Gala. Though their high-profile romance included trips to Swift's homes in Rhode Island and Nashville and Hiddleston's native England, the pair broke up in September 2016 after three months of dating.

Despite their breakup, months later, the Thor: Ragnarok star only had positive things to say about his former girlfriend. "Of course it was real," Hiddleston told GQ in 2017. "Taylor is an amazing woman. She's generous and kind and lovely, and we had the best time."

From their globe-spanning date nights to their public split, here's a look back at Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's summer fling.

May 2, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have a dance off at the Met Gala

The singer was a co-chair for the event and attended sans her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris. Never ones to shy away from a dance floor, Swift and Hiddleston were captured in an Instagram video showing off their best moves to T.I.'s 2004 hit "Bring Em Out."

While they definitely appeared to be having a blast in the video, the pair also kept a friendly distance while breaking it down.

About a month later, news broke that Swift and Harris had recently split after 15 months together. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE that "there was no drama" surrounding the break up and that "things just don't work out sometimes. No one cheated."

June 15, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's romance breaks the internet

Swift and Hiddleston sent their loyal fans into a frenzy when photos of them getting cozy hit the internet.

The duo were photographed kissing, holding hands and cuddling in Rhode Island.

While reactions from fans ranged from support to shock, others couldn't help but make some clever jokes. "Taylor swift and tom hiddleston didn't keep their relationship very loki lol," tweeted one fan.

June 21, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston attend Selena Gomez's concert in Nashville

A little over a month after Swift and Hiddleston first showed off their moves with a dance-off at the Met Gala, the couple danced the night away at Selena Gomez's concert in Nashville on June 21. Though the couple was in a private box, fans recorded Snapchat videos of the two dancing together.

June 23, 2016: Taylor Swift introduces Tom Hiddleston to her parents before date night in Nashville

While in Nashville, Swift introduced Hiddleston to her parents on June 23.  Later, Swift and Hiddleston spent the evening out in Music City. The couple had dinner with friends at the farm-to-fork restaurant, Adele's.

June 24, 2016: Tom Hiddleston introduces Taylor Swift to his mother in England

After meeting Swift's parents in Nashville, the couple flew to England. While there, Hiddleston introduced Swift to his mother, Diana. The trio walked the streets of Ipswich and the Suffolk coastline.

A Hiddleston family source later told PEOPLE that Hiddleston's mother "thinks Taylor is the loveliest" and was "happy to meet her." The source added, "Taylor was almost immediately part of the family."

June 27, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have a date in Rome

Days after meeting the parents in Nashville and across the pond in Suffolk, Swift and Hiddleston took their globe-trotting summer romance to Rome, Italy.

The couple went sightseeing and experienced a private tour of the Colosseum. After dining at a nearby restaurant, Swift and Hiddleston retired for the night at Rome's Hotel de Russie in the fifth floor's Nijinsky Suite.

June 29, 2016: Source says Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have "fallen for each other very quickly"

Although the relationship between Swift and Hiddleston only started a few weeks earlier, a source told PEOPLE exclusively that the couple has "fallen for each other very quickly," adding, "They're very close for people who have only been dating for a couple of weeks."

July 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston spend Fourth of July weekend together

During the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Swift threw a party at her Rhode Island home. Among the partygoers were Blake Lively, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Ruby Rose, Uzo Aduba, Gigi Hadid and Martha Hunt. Hiddleston and Swift were also spotted on July 3, 2016, walking on the seashore. Hiddleston wore an "I [heart] T.S." tank top and sported a faux heart tattoo with a "T" in the middle on his right tricep.

In a since-deleted post, Swift's childhood friend Britany LaManna posted a photo on Instagram of herself and husband Ben, along with couples Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds and Swift and Hiddleston.

July 7, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have a dinner date in Australia

Just days after Swift's Independence Day party in Rhode Island, Swift and Hiddleston headed to Gold Coast, Australia, where Hiddleston was preparing to shoot Thor: Ragnarok. The couple had dinner at Gemelli Italian restaurant, and a source told PEOPLE that Swift and Hiddleston were "very affectionate, happy and just lovely."

Another source said that Swift is "very giddy around Tom" and seems "ecstatic to be with him," adding, "They have a fun energy going on."

July 14, 2016: Tom Hiddleston says his relationship with Taylor Swift is "not a publicity stunt"

Amid much speculation and interest about the relationship between Swift and Hiddleston, the Thor actor set the record straight in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

When asked if the relationship was real or just a publicity stunt, Hiddleston answered, "The truth is that Taylor Swift and I are together, and we're very happy. Thanks for asking." Hiddleston later added, "That's the truth. It's not a publicity stunt."

July 27, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston enjoy dinner in Santa Monica

A few days after Hiddleston appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con to promote his film Kong: Skull Island, he headed north to Santa Monica to have dinner with Swift at Hillstone restaurant.

"They were tucked away in the second floor of the restaurant," a source told PEOPLE. "They seemed to really be enjoying each others' company."

August 2016: Tom Hiddleston joins Instagram and is followed by Taylor Swift

While on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, Hiddleston joined Instagram to post a photo of himself in costume as his fan-favorite character Loki on Aug. 9, 2016. Three days later, Hiddleston and Swift followed each other on Instagram.

August 14-16 2016: Tom Hiddleston flies from L.A. to Rhode Island to visit Taylor Swift

After filming Thor: Ragnarok in Australia and attending a SAG-AFTRA Foundation event in L.A. on Aug. 12, Hiddleston flew on Swift's private plane to Rhode Island to spend a few days with Swift at her home.

September 6, 2016: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston break up

On Sept. 6, a source told PEOPLE that Swift and Hiddleston had "an amicable split." News of their split inspired both sadness and support of their breakup among fans.

Though the former couple has rarely spoken about their brief relationship since their breakup, in March 2017, Hiddleston pushed back in an interview with The Telegraph when asked if he "regretted" the publicity surrounding the relationship.

"What should I regret, in your mind? I would rather not talk about this if that's all right," he said.
