Explaining 'Survivor' Shot in the Dark

Fans have gotten used to seeing players use their Shot in the Dark powers in recent seasons, as the show first introduced the twist in season 41. So in case you need a refresher, here's what to know, according to Entertainment Weekly:

  • Each player receives a die at the beginning of the game.

  • If a player thinks they could be voted out during a specific Tribal Council, they can use their Shot in the Dark.

  • If played, the castaway cannot vote during that Tribal Council.

  • The player can then turn in their die for a 1-in-6 chance to be safe through a bag of scrolls, with one scroll being marked "Safe" and the other five being "Not Safe."
