Tim Story’s The Story Company Taps Sharla Sumpter Bridgett As President Of Production
The Story Company, co-founded by Barbershop director Tim Story, has brought on veteran film and television producer Sharla Sumpter Bridgett as President of Production. Bridgett, who previously served as development executive/producing partner at Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street, will oversee Story Company’s new slate of film, television and digital projects.
Prior to the new post, Bridgett also was partner and President of Production at Varsity Pictures and President of Film at Tollin/Robbins Productions.
Her producing credits include Coach Carter, The To Do List, and Wild Hogs as well as TV shows such as Blue Mountain State, and Disney Channel’s So Random! and Sonny with a Chance.
Bridgett joins Story Company’s exec roster, which includes co-founder Vicky Story and Director of Development Doug Griffin.
On the company’s development slate is Humbug, a contemporary retelling of the Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol with Ice Cube attached to star in the title role, as well as Corduroy, based on the classic children’s novel, and a film about the deadly 1921 Tulsa Race Riot.
Story, known for directing films like Ride Along, Think Like A Man, and Fantastic Four, is attached to direct New Line’s upcoming Shaft reboot, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Jessie T. Usher, and is an exec producer on Showtime’s new comedy series White Famous.
