Akron-area fans of Tim Hortons coffee and Timbits have one less option to visit.

Representatives from the franchise, known for its coffee and doughnuts, as well as breakfast and lunch options, confirmed that its location at 637 Canton Road in the Ellet neighborhood has permanently closed its doors. A nearby Tim Hortons, however, will remain open.

"While the restaurant on Canton Road has closed, we are happy to welcome guests at the nearby Tim Hortons restaurant at 1288 George Washington Blvd.," according to a company statement last week. "We’re very excited about growth opportunities in the region and we’re evaluating a number of sites as possible locations for future Tims restaurants."

Questions on when the restaurant was closed were not answered, although the location was not open for long. The Canton Road location had opened in the summer of 2019.
