Tim and Eric announce 2020 “Mandatory Attendance Tour”

Two years ago, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim toured together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!. Now, Tim and Eric are bringing their absurdist brand of comedy around the world once again on a global 2020 jaunt dubbed the “Mandatory Attendance Tour”.

Well, “global” may be overstating it, as currently shows are only scheduled for North America and Australia. A press release promises “brand new spoofs, goofs, and insanity, and some very special surprises we can’t talk about right now.”

The tour kicks off in Sydney, Australia on January 15th. From there, the duo will head out on an extensive North American run, stopping in most major cities before wrapping up with two nights in Los Angeles on March 6th and 7th. And yes, in case it wasn’t clear, the press release confirms that “the experience is MANDATORY.” The full list of tour dates is ahead.

Tickets go on sale September 27th at 10:00 a.m. local time and can be found on Tim and Eric’s website. After that, check here.

To help announce the tour, Tim and Eric have shared a promotional teaser video. In the clip, they take turns talking awkwardly about the upcoming journey, launching out of one another’s orifices to mention fans could potentially gain 20/20 vision by attending the shows. “In the past, it has been optional to buy tickets and even to attend it,” says Wareheim. “You watch the video, you gotta come to the show. It’s legally binding.” Watch it below.

Here’s hoping there’s some space in the show for Heidecker to show off some of his musical chops, as he did on his June full-length What the Brokenhearted Do…. The record followed 2017’sToo Dumb For Suicide: Tim Heidecker’s Trump Songs and Another Year in Hell: Collected Songs from 2018. He also shared “To the Men” in May, benefiting Alabama’s Yellowhammer Fund after the State Senate passed the country’s most restrictive anti-abortion bill.

The tour also comes as Heidecker is about to revisit his doomed bid for district attorney of San Bernardino County in the new movie Mister America. The mockumentary follows Heidecker as he seeks to unseat Vincent Rosetti as the county’s lead prosecutor. Of course, it’s all actually an exercise in political revenge, as it was Rosetti who tried the comedian for 20 deaths at the Electric Sun Music Festival. The film is out in theaters on October 9th, and the first trailer dropped earlier this month.

Over the summer, Heidecker teamed up with Gregg Turkington for the “On Cinema at the Cinema Live” Tour. The pair also released their companion book, Brandan Kearney’s On Cinema At The Cinema Reader – Vol. 1 2010–2018, back in June.
