Tim Allen makes sure everyone knows his show's new home is Fox in 'Last Man Standing' TV spot

Last Man Standing was ABC’s second-most-watched comedy during the 2017 season, behind only Modern Family. But that didn’t stop the network from giving it the axe. Nonetheless, Fox stepped in to save the popular Tim Allen series, and on Tuesday night, fans got their first look at what’s to come.

Those watching Fox’s broadcast of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game were treated to a quick 15-second commercial for Last Man Standing, in which Allen stars as a conservative father of three who struggles to maintain his manliness in a household (and life) dominated by women.

That video, above, features Allen and Nancy Travis sitting around a campfire, at which point Travis spots a fox. That’s the cue for her to repeat the word fox three times, until the point has been made — although that doesn’t stop Allen himself from making absolutely sure via a final verbalization of the show’s new home.

Funny enough, when news of Fox’s rescue mission was first announced, Allen credited fans with keeping the show alive in a baseball-metaphor-filled statement:

“Excited? Team LMS was in the sixth inning, ahead by four runs, stands were packed and then for no reason, they call off the game. It leaves you sitting in the dugout, holding a bat and puzzled. Now we get the news from FOX that it’s time to get back out on that diamond – hell yes, I’m excited! When I heard the offer to create more episodes of Last Man Standing, I did a fist pump so hard I threw my back out. It’s the fans! I could not be more grateful for the fans who wrote petitions and kept up the passion and incredible support for the show. And a fist pump, ouch, for Dana Walden and Gary Newman at FOX for not only listening to the fans, but for making the bold move to bring Last Man Standing back. I’m sure audiences will be curious to see what we look like after all these years. Oh, has it only been one year? Well, just goes to show you – a lot can happen in a year.”

Last Man Standing aired on ABC for six seasons before being rescued by Fox, whose sister studio 20th Century Fox Television produces the comedy. For now, most of the original cast is returning, including Amanda Fuller, Hector Elizondo, Christoph Sanders, Jordan Masterson, and Jonathan Adams. According to E! though, Molly Ephraim and Flynn Morrison will be recast.

The show debuts on Fox on Friday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. ET.
