Woman slams auto shop after employee allegedly kicked her out over her 'inappropriate' top: 'I didn't think it mattered'

A TikToker is accusing a car inspection station of asking her to wait outside because her shirt was “too inappropriate.”

Debates over what actually qualifies as “inappropriate” have erupted over TikTok over the course of the summer. In June alone, two separate TikTokers claimed that they caught unwanted attention for what they wore to Disney World, and a pair of 20-year-old girlfriends were allegedly told by a male bar manager that they were “basically topless.”

In this case, user Tia Wood (@tiawould) posted a video recounted how she was allegedly told to “wait outside” of a car inspection office because her shirt was “too inappropriate.”

“Didn’t know getting your car inspected had a dress code!” she captioned the clip, which has since racked up over 1.6 million views.

In a follow-up video, Wood went on to further explain her side of what happened.

“What I’m about to show you is potentially very dangerous for the welfare of your car, so make sure your vehicle is nowhere near your phone for the next like 10 seconds,” she said sarcastically.

Wood also added that she didn’t even think about her outfit before driving to the inspection place because she “didn’t think it mattered.”

“I’m sorry, are you inspecting [the car] or baptizing it?” she asked.

In a third video, Wood claimed to be on the phone with an employee from the car inspection place recounting the incident.

“So they told you you weren’t allowed in the waiting area because of your outfit?” the other person on the phone can seemingly be heard saying. “I’m asking questions because this is the first time we’ve ever heard something like this.”

The person on the phone added that the business did not have a dress code and just required face coverings.

The commenters seemed split on how to handle the situation — with some siding with Wood and others pointing out that she may have been pushing the limits with how much skin she was showing.

“Didn’t know the dress code is usually black tie for formal events such as getting your car inspected,” someone joked.

“There’s nothing wrong with your outfit,” another pointed out.

“I saw the other video first and was on your side but… that’s not at all a crop top,” a commenter argued.
