Tiffany Nicole Ervin (‘Survivor 46’ exit interview): ‘I broke my own Survivor rule’

On Wednesday’s 10th episode of “Survivor 46,” the final eight players felt a “calm” around camp heading into the next tribal council, all seemingly aligned in a movement to target one player unanimously. But for the fourth straight vote, a blindside was afoot and Tiffany Nicole Ervin was sent to the jury with her publicly acknowledged hidden idol in her pocket. Read on for Tiffany’s “Survivor 46” exit interview from the end of the episode.

In the new era of the game, players are much less bothered when they are voted out by surprise and Tiffany is no different. In her Q&A, she said, “I’m not going to sit up here and pretend that I’m happy that I just got blindsided, but if there’s any way to go out on ‘Survivor,’ it’s a blindside.” Tiffany has known the threat her idol played to the rest of the players ever since Q Burdette publicly spilled the beans about it a few weeks go. She voiced her concern that she should flush it herself just to get the target off her back, but she thought that everyone was united to get Q out this week and so she attempted to keep it just a bit longer.

Tiffany’s feeling that everyone wanted Q out was not unfounded and, in fact, it was the main topic of discussion at tribal council. After Q denied Liz Wilcox the opportunity to finally get some food as a companion on his reward challenge win, the bed seemed to be made for Q as the villain of the season and that it was in everyone’s best interest to take him out. But Maria Shrime Gonzalez and Charlie Davis had other plans that involved keeping Q as a vote to make bigger moves and they are able to bring Liz and Ben Katzman along for the ride.

“I broke my own ‘Survivor’ rule,” Tiffany admitted. “I should have played my idol. I should have just gotten rid of it, but I was trying to stretch my idol out for one more tribal. It turns out that it bit me in the butt.”

With five votes to three, Tiffany was sent to the jury and Kenzie Petty and Venus Vafa were the two left in the dark by this blindside. They are part of the final seven, with the Siga three (Charlie, Ben and Maria) now making up the original tribe majority compared to the Nami two (Venus and Liz) and the Yanu two (Q and Kenzie).
