Tiffany Haddish spills details about potential projects with director Paul Thomas Anderson
Tiffany Haddish was one of 2017’s breakout movie stars, thanks to her popular (and New York Film Critics Circle-winning) performance in Girls Trip. While that turn will no doubt lead to numerous offers for upcoming films, Haddish has so far been most vocal about her discussions with Phantom Thread director Paul Thomas Anderson about a future collaboration — talks that were instigated by Anderson himself, who has made no bones about his desire to work with the comedian. And tonight, she spilled more details about their possible projects.
Speaking to Yahoo’s own Kevin Polowy tonight on the Academy Awards red carpet, Haddish (in the above video) says that “it could be several things, we’re trying to figure it out. Either it’ll take place in South Central L.A. back when it was poppin’ off of South Central Boulevard — I don’t know if you know, Central Boulevard was like Sunset back in the day, back in the ’30s and ’40s. Or maybe it’ll be like a wayback period piece that takes place in the 1600s. I bet you didn’t know black people was in England then, did you? We was!”
That said, she’s also eager to work with Best Actor Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), and confesses that she doesn’t know which of these team-ups — if either — will happen first. “I’ll work with both of them! I’ll work with anybody who wants to work with me long as they treat me kind.”
Which is another way of saying that a PTA-Haddish-Chalamet extravaganza is a possibility. Universe, make that happen now!
