Gen X and Millennials will remember every moment of the era when Tiffani Thiessen (then known as Tiffani Amber Thiessen) joined the cast of Beverly Hills 90210. Not only was she uber-famous for her role as Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell, but she was also dating one of the Fox show’s hottest stars. It seemed like a natural fit when she started filming her role as bad girl Valerie Malone in 1994, but there was someone who wasn’t exactly thrilled with her steamy scenes with their co-stars.

Brian Austin Green, who played David Silver during the series’ successful run, admitted on Shannen Doherty’s Let’s Be Clear podcast that he wasn’t exactly the best boyfriend to Thiessen. “I’d never been in a real serious relationship before,” he spoke of their romance which lasted from 1992 until 1995. “I used to bring Tiffani to events so she knew everybody from then and then all of a sudden she’s doing sex scenes and s**t with people that were like my family and my brothers,” he shared. “It was strange. I remember I was really just f**king jealous and boisterous.”

It probably didn’t help that Thiessen’s character quickly became involved with the very popular Dylan McKay, played by the late Luke Perry. It wasn’t long before Green’s jealousy issue played a major role in their daily lives. “Looking back on it, I can’t imagine what that was like for her,” he added. “I can’t imagine what it was like for her being with me for three years at that point and then having to do these scenes and having her f**king boyfriend, who she lives with by the way, freaking out the way that I was.”

Thiessen and Green are on great terms now, but she alluded to the fact that their work situation affected their personal lives back in the day. She had to constantly point out to Green that kissing Perry was a job — she was getting “paid” to make it look like their love was real. “That was probably the more awkward thing,” she told Meredith Vieira on her short-lived talk show in 2015. “Literally having your boyfriend on the show and then literally kissing another man.”

Green eventually went on to have significant relationships with Vanessa Marcil, mother to his oldest son, Kassius, 21, and Megan Fox, whom he was married to for 11 years. They had three sons together, Noah, 11, Body, 10, and Journey, 7. He’s now engaged to former Dancing With the Stars pro Sharna Burgess, mother to his son, Zane, 21 months. Thiessen married Brady Smith and they share two children, daughter Harper, 13, and son Holt, 8.
