Tiffani Thiessen and Her Mother Get Matching Butterfly Tattoos: 'I Feel a New Sense of Transformation'

Thiessen and her mother, Robyn Thiessen, dedicated their new ink to the 'Saved by the Bell' alum's grandmother

Tiffani Thiessen treated herself to an early birthday present in the form of new ink!

In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, Tiffani, who will turn 50 on Jan. 23, and her mom, Robyn Ernest, showed off their latest matching tattoos: delicate butterflies that they had inked just below their wrists.

The cookbook author explained in the caption that the butterfly holds multiple meanings for her. Not only is it a loving tribute to her grandmother, the tattoo also represents the sense of transformation she's feeling as she approaches 50.

"Countdown to 50 continues- I got this stunning new tattoo from @cachotattoo It was truly special because I have always had a beautiful bond with my grandmother and she loved butterflies," Tiffani wrote.

She continued, "My mom and I both dedicated these tattoos to her. She believed that butterflies symbolize transformation and rebirth and that after she left the human world, she would continue to show us she was with us in this form. 🦋"

Tiffani included a video of herself showing off a closeup of her tattoo, as well as a photo of her with tattoo artist Ignacio Suarez and a photo of her and her mother's hands side by side to show their matching ink.

The Saved by the Bell alum went on to note the butterfly has a double meaning for her as she approaches her milestone birthday. "It also seems fitting as I feel a new sense of transformation as I’m about to turn 50," she concluded her post.

This isn't the first time Tiffani and her mom have gotten matching tattoos. In 2022, the actress shared a snap of her and Robyn showing off heart tattoos on their arms on Instagram alongside the caption, "A memorable day with my sweet mom. Thank you @cachotattoo for giving us this special gift #i❤️uttaf."

While it's unclear exactly how many tattoos Tiffani has in total, the mom of two has at least four. Her other ink includes a wrist tattoo of the word "balance," which was also done by Suarez, and a green lotus tattoo on her right hip.
