Tia Mowry is opening up about her journey of self-discovery.

In a reflective Instagram post on Friday, the actress, 45, shared that she's spent the last year taking stock of her life and digging deeper into understanding herself better.

"Who am I when I am not Tia the mom, Tia the actress, or Tia the sister?" she wrote. "Over the past year, I've earnestly embarked on a journey to discover more about myself and determine what I truly desire in life."

"While I undeniably cherish the various roles I play in my life, it became imperative for me to delve deeper into understanding who Tia, the individual, is and what brings happiness to her life," she continued.

Mowry — who announced in October 2022 that she and husband Cory Hardrict were ending their marriage after 14 years — went on to explain that she recently went on a retreat that was "precisely what I needed at this point in my life." She shared a series of photos and videos from the trip, capturing her soaking up the stunning scenery from a boat, exploring the sights, taking walks, enjoying a drink with a friend and journaling.

"During my time there, I devoted a significant portion to journaling and focused on expressing the emotions and thoughts that I've been navigating throughout the year," she explained, before sharing what she learned in the process.

"A major revelation for me was the recognition that I am in a perpetual state of evolution, and not only is this acceptable, but it's actually wonderful," she continued. "It signifies personal growth and the capacity to acquire knowledge and self-improvement."

Mowry said she also learned the importance of taking time for herself. "The more I prioritize self-care and ensure my own well-being, the more effectively I can support and assist others. Once my cup is full, I can be better at filling up those in my community!" she added.

Last week, in a similar post, Mowry shared that she had recently been traveling alone, noting that she welcomed the "solitude" and opportunity to sit with her thoughts.

"As you may have known, I took a trip to Spain and London, and during a significant portion of my trip, I found myself alone. In the solitude I encountered, I learned to embrace stillness and welcome the quiet," she wrote. "This newfound peace provided me with the space to listen to my thoughts and, more importantly, afforded me the opportunity to actually process them."

The Family Reunion star described the trip as "transformative" and promised to share more about her experience.

Back in August, Mowry got candid about the prospect of joining the dating world again following her divorce, which was settled in April. “Fun Fact: I’ve never been on the dating scene my entire life 😬. So when I tell you I’m nervous and terrified of doing this whole dating thing, I mean it 😭,” she captioned a TikTok video of herself getting ready for a date. “Even though I’m in my 40s, I feel so inexperienced!”

Despite this, Mowry was determined to face her fears. “And while it would be easy to just throw in the towel and avoid the potential for awkwardness and hurt, I know God’s got me!" she continued. "So if you’re feeling apprehensive about new experiences, just know you got this, and we’re in this together!”

Earlier this month, she shared an update on how things were going, calling the dating life "complicated."

"Doesn't mean I'm going to go back to something that no longer served me," she wrote on Instagram. "That's like implementing if I don't book an audition or a part as an actor RIGHT AWAY I'm going to give up on my dreams.”
