Tia Mowry is clarifying some misconceptions about her life following her divorce from Cory Hardrict.

The 45-year-old actress is actively dating, but admitted that finding her new person has been difficult, recently telling author and host Chris GQ Perry what it’s like to date now compared to her last relationship.

“It is very tough and very exhausting,” Mowry explained. “My last relationship, it was beautiful. It was amazing. It was wonderful. There was courting that was involved. And I was saying how I feel like that’s no longer present, meaning people just don’t court each other anymore.”

She also credited “emotional intelligence, emotional maturity, being aware of your traumas, and how you’re projecting those traumas onto people” as the key components to a “successful, thriving, romantic relationship.”

After clips from the interview made their rounds across the internet, Mowry came to her own defense amid criticism about not wanting to reconcile with her ex-husband on Saturday (Oct. 7).

“Just because the dating life is complicated. Doesn’t mean I’m going to go back to something that no longer served me,” tweeted the mom of two.

“That’s like saying if I don’t book an audition our a part right away I’m going to give up on my dreams as an actor. Please just stop. I ain’t that weak. Please move on because I have. Thank you NEXT.”

After one person labeled her tweet an “emotional response,” the Family Reunion star replied, “No boo boo. This is MY response to stop narratives being said about me. Like YOU. Don’t speak on my behalf thank you. You are NOT me. So just stop please.”

In a separate tweet, Mowry emphasized, “I’m no longer allowing the lies and BLOGS creating false information. I create the narrative NOT you for click bait. If you don’t hear it from me. It’s all LIES.”

She and the All-American: Homecoming actor announced they were divorcing amicably after 14 years of marriage in October 2022.
