Throw back a Brad Pitt-inspired shot at Springfield's new bar, offering 103 unique shots

Downtown Springfield's newest bar offers more than 100 Springfield-inspired shots, including the "John Goodman," "Brad Pitt" and "Bad Ass Pro."

Opened in mid-February, Shot Shack is located at 302 E. Walnut St., in the building that formerly housed Izumi Hatake-Sushi Grill. The bar offers 103 shots, but co-owner Kaitlin Oxenreider said she hopes to add more.

For those who can't decide, a large, wooden spinning wheel full of Springfield-named shots is available. These include the "Boomer and Growl" for Missouri State (piña colada vodka with grenadine), "Birds on the Bat" for the Springfield Cardinals (cherry vodka and grenadine), "Giant Fork" (silver tequila and Sprite), among others. Along with shots, Shot Shack offers canned beers, seltzers, cocktails and moonshine from Myrtle's Distilled Spirits, based in Neosho.

The Springfield feel doesn't stop with the drink menu. Shot Shack has a "Ozarks hills-type vibe," Oxenreider said, with Ozarks memorabilia decorating the bar, including some of Oxenreider's own family photos.

Oxenreider described Shot Shack as a "quick, in and out" experience, a "prequel to your night out or if you want a night cap before you go home."

Oxenreider co-owns Shot Shack with Zachery Campbell, owner of 417 Taphouse. Together, the two also co-own 417 Pedal Tours, a pedal-powdered portable bar. 417 Pedal Tours participants stop at three downtown bars over a two-hour timespan. For the 2023 season, one of the designated bars will be Shot Shack, Ozenreider said.
