In April, Disneyland parkgoers witnessed another terrifying event when a 45-foot animatronic dragon burst into flames during a show. The figure, known as Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, was seen breathing fire during the performance before it unexpectedly became engulfed in flames.

"During the final showing of Fantasmic at Disneyland park on Saturday evening, the dragon prop caught fire," the resort said in a statement. "Anaheim Fire & Rescue quickly responded, and the fire was extinguished."

An initial press release from the California theme park said the blaze was likely caused by a "leak of flammable fluid, seen dripping down from the mouth moments before the fireball effect went off."

The statement added that fire effects would be “temporarily suspended” in select shows “out of an abundance of caution."
