This three-day festival will shine a spotlight on student performances and creations at BU

This May, Binghamton University's School of the Arts will be hosting a three-day festival of the arts which will be open to the public and free.

The School of the Arts inaugural Student Showcase will be held in and around the Fine Arts Building on campus from May 1-3. The festival aims to highlight creations, research and performances by students, and will feature a variety of different artistic mediums throughout the event.

Binghamton's School of the Arts is part of Harpur College of Arts and Sciences, and focuses on art, design, art history, cinema, music and theatre, and also works with creative writing programs.

What is Binghamton University's Festival of the Arts?

The festival will feature many different forms of art, ranging from music and dance performances, public talks and readings, art exhibitions, screenings and live demonstrations.

"This festival provides an opportunity to showcase our strong interdisciplinary connections, as well as the inspired work and performance of Binghamton students," said School of the Arts Director Christopher Robbins. "Our School of the Arts is built from award-winning programs within an acclaimed Research-1 University. The work that comes out of this combination is exciting and ground-breaking, and this is a chance to see it all coming together."

At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, the festival will begin with a performance by the Binghamton University Chamber Singers and Hub New Music, an internationally touring ensemble. The performance is expected to run until 9:30 p.m.

Binghamton University arts festival: Where to park

Parking for visitors will be available in the parking garage by the Couper Administration Building and Anderson Center for Performing Arts, as well as Lot D. To access parking, enter through the main entrance, follow the sign pointing EAST to take a left at the traffic circle, and then take the first right into the garage or Lot D.

Once parked, follow signs to the entrance of the Fine Arts building. Parking in Lot D is free, while a parking pass will be provided in order to exit the garage. To receive your parking pass, see a staff member in the School of the Arts main office.
