Power outages cut in half as temperatures rise across the Hudson Valley
The number of power outages across the region has been cut in half as the temperatures have risen from morning to mid-afternoon on Saturday.
As of 3:30 p.m., 3,574 customers of the four utility companies serving the region had no power. Westchester and Ulster counties have the largest numbers of outages.
Con Edison said 1,070 of its customers in Westchester County have no power. The utility company is now estimating that it could be noon on Sunday before all of them have their power restored.
New York State Electric and Gas now has 916 Westchester County customers without power. While the company is estimating some of those customers will have their power restored on Saturday, other outages are still being assessed and no estimated restoration time has been issued.
Central Hudson still has 40 customers without power in Ulster County, and expects to have them restored by 10 p.m.
Central Hudson hopes to have power restored to most of its 90 customers in Orange County and the 20 customers in Putnam County who are still powerless by Saturday night, but restoration times for 14 customers in New Windsor are still pending.

NYSEG has 221 customers in Putnam County and 174 customers in Sullivan County without power. Most of the customers in Sullivan County should have power restored by 5:30 p.m., but estimated restoration times for those still without power in Putnam County are still pending.
Orange and Rockland Utilities has 215 customers in Rockland County and 44 customers in Orange County without power. The company is estimating all those customers should have their power restored by 11 p.m.
Temperatures which were in the single digits or even below zero this morning, and felt even worse because of the wind chill, have now risen to the teens. A sampling from across the region: 18 in White Plains and New City; 17 in Kingston, Poughkeepsie and Carmel; 16 in Middletown; and 14 in Monticello.
