While many people consider themselves fans of country singer Thomas Rhett, he just might be the biggest fan of one person—his wife, Lauren Akins. Rhett recently revealed that Akins inspired his romantic new song, "Beautiful As You".

"There was one day a couple years back when I was looking at my wife, and I was like, 'Why in the world did you choose me?'" he explained about the song's origins, according to iHeartCountry. "I get to be with someone who could easily be on the cover of a magazine, and I get to see her in all her forms -- a partner, a mother, a friend, even a philanthropist."

Rhett didn’t stop there, adding that when he looks at his wife, he feels like he’s "got a first row seat at almost-perfection” and finds himself pondering, “like the song says, 'Seriously, what is somebody as amazing as you doing with somebody like me?’”

Rhett added that the new music comes from entering a new chapter in his life and the evolving relationship he has with his wife, whom he married in 2012 and now shares with four daughters, Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love, and Lillie Carolina.  “Lauren and I are just in a different phase of life than we have been for awhile,” Rhett explained per iHeart. “Now it’s a little easier to go on date nights, do stuff with friends, stay up a little bit later – I don’t know, maybe even sleep in a little bit! So much of my music is a reflection of the stage of life we are in - we’re in a very joyful season - and this song is just the tip of the iceberg to the rest of this next album.”

"Beautiful as You" is the first song from Rhett’s forthcoming album, which is due out on August 23.  Rhett performed the single during the 2024 ACM Awards hosted by Reba McEntire on May 16.

We think this song is the ultimate romantic gesture.
