This Hollywood big hitter is 'obsessed' with 'Love Island'
With the live final of Love Island just days away, we already know famous faces such as AJ Pritchard, Tamer Hassan and Tyson Fury will be watching. They will after all be cheering on their family members competing in the ITV2 hit. But did you know that Lena Dunham will be glued to her telly too this Monday?
The Girls’ creator has apparently been diligently watching all summer. There were a couple of mentions on her Twitter feed a month again, but today Dunham has officially revealed her Love Island adoration to the world, opening up about it in today’s The Guardian.
“Up until now, I’ve been fairly silent about why I love Love Island,” she said, explaining that she originally only knew of the show through her “shameful Mail Online habit”. But when the writer/actor/director moved to Wales to film new HBO drama Industry, she suddenly found she had an inexplicable need to be in front of the telly every night at 9pm when she “discovered Love Island.”

She revealed, “I was totally unprepared for how wholly it would take over my life and days. It seemed like a small investment, a calming way to power down as I ate my spaghetti; but... my vague interest turned to something like obsession.”
Dunham first talked about her fascination with Love Island love back in June tweeting to her fans in the US that they needed to find time to watch the UK reality game show.

She even got involved with the conversations about Maura’s straightforward approach when it came to dating the island’s men.

Her addiction is such that she’s even made her dad watch the show while he was visiting from the states. “He made a face as if I’d brought a 77-year-old arms dealer home for Christmas... before returning to his John le Carré novel.”
She put her fascination with the series down to the fact that “at the end of the day they are romantics, here to find a love so great it wins the nation’s heart.”
The currently single Dunham added, “I am asking myself the same questions they ask themselves on Love Island, really. Can you love again after hurt? What does partnership mean? And what does it mean to know someone if you don’t know yourself?”
This series of Love Island concludes on Monday, 9pm on ITV2.
