Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith recently went viral by expertly playing drums to Thirty Seconds to Mars’ “The Kill” as he heard the song for the first time. Now, 30STM’s Jared and Shannon Leto have reacted to the “incredible” performance.

As Consequence was one of the first to report, Smith was challenged by the good folks at Drumeo to play along to a song he had never heard before. That song was “The Kill,” and, for lack of a better word, the Chili Peppers stickman absolutely killed it. Afterward, he exclaimed, “What the fuck was that? Is that like My Chemical Romance or something?”

That video has since gone on to garner nearly 5 million views just two weeks after being uploaded to YouTube, with fans expressing amazement in the comments at Smith’s ability to perform the track without knowing what was coming next.

In their reaction video, which was shared as a “duet” clip on Thirty Seconds to Mars’ official TikTok account, singer Jared Leto and his drummer brother Shannon offered a silent but emphatic blessing of Smith’s performance.

As the 30STM brothers watched the clip, they expressed their approval with a series of “thumbs up” as Jared excitedly mouthed along to the lyrics and Shannon air drummed to Smith’s playing. The caption of the TikTok video simply read, “Incredible.”
