Charlamagne Tha God is known for having uncomfortable conversations with guests on his show, “The Breakfast Club.” However, while appearing on Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” he took issue with a political discussion the hosts brought him into. The media personality was promoting his new book, “Get Honest or Die Lying,” when the conversation turned to the 2024 presidential election.

“You have a massive platform. You and I have talked about this before,” co-host Sunny Hostin said. “You endorsed Joe Biden back in 2020, but this time around, you said you’re not going to endorse anybody. Charlamagne, now is not the time, in my opinion, to sit this one out.”

Charlamagne replied, “I didn’t say that,” before going on to explain that he votes for “issues, not individuals.”

When Hosting pressed the issue, wondering, “Why not endorse Biden,” he explained that his feelings on the election are clear.

“Because if I’m sitting here telling my listeners that you have somebody out there who’s a threat to democracy, somebody out there who said they want to suspend the constitution and overthrow the results of the election — you saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country — and I’m telling people that this guy is a threat to democracy,” Charlamagne said. “There’s only two candidates out there. If I’m saying that about this individual, the choice is clear, right?”

He went on to discuss the way the hosts handle political discussions with guests, bringing up Killer Mike’s appearance on the show in February. Charlamagne questioned why they need people to specifically endorse Biden if they don’t want to.

Whoopi Goldberg stated that it’s not about the hosts wanting endorsements, it’s about the viewers hearing it from him. Things got really interesting when Charlamagne got extremely honest about his opinions on both President Biden and Donald Trump.

“I think both candidates are trash, but I am going to vote in November and I’m going to vote in my best interest and who can preserve democracy,” he said. “Would you rather I endorse an individual or endorse the fact that we need to go out here and protect democracy?”

There was a time when we didn’t care about celebrities’ political views. Unfortunately, things have taken a dark and dangerous turn in recent years, so some people like to know where their favorite personalities stand. That being said, does Charlamagne have a point when he notes that if someone is showing support for a certain sides’ candidates and issues, they don’t need to specifically declare who they’re planning to vote for?
