Sneaker Xpo is Saturday at Canton Memorial Civic Center

Nike Air Jordan shoes and thousands of other pairs will be for sale at the Stark County Sneaker Xpo from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.

John Hray, event organizer, said he's excited about the first-time local event, which also features food, a DJ, prizes, raffles and giveaways.

Mostly gym-style shoes will be for sale, including rare ones and "every brand of sneakers you can imagine," Hray said. Prices for shoes range from $40 to thousands of dollars.

"You always find some rare, hard to find shoes at every sneaker show," he wrote in an email. "We also have people selling clothing, jerseys and vintage clothing, as well."

"If anyone goes to a sneaker event like this, they have to drive two hours to Columbus (or) an hour to Cleveland, so we are proud to be hosting this in Canton," Hray said.

A few thousand people are expected to attend the Sneaker Xpo, where admission is $10 for students and $20 for adults. Pre-order tickets are available online for $10 at https://www.eventbrite.com/. The ticket presale ends on Friday.

The event is sponsored by Stark Flavor, Giordano's pizza in Stark County and Grandpa's Cheesebarn.
