Shamanism Basics Workshop at Pueblo Divine Science Church

115 E. Routte Ave. | 9 a.m.-5 p.m. | Jerri Doran of Salida will host the workshop. She is a healer, teacher, ceremonialist and initiate as a fourth-level wisdom keeper in the Andean quero tradition. Chess Tournament at City Park

800 Goodnight Ave., George L. Williams Pavilion next to the fountain | Registration at 9 a.m., first round at 9:30 a.m. | The tournament should be completed by early afternoon. The entry fee is $10 per player and the time for each game is determined by the number of entries. Winners of the most games will earn prizes of $30 for first, $15 for second or $10 for third. No memberships are required. There are some sets and boards available, but most players should plan on bringing their own.

Union Depot, 200 W. B St. | 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.| Locomotive, caboose and speeder rides will be offered at a cost of $10-15, while children 3 and younger are free. Steel City Cafe food truck will offer BBQ ribs, brisket, chicken and more.

Schola Cantorum of Santa Fe performance at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

414 W. 11th St. | 7 p.m. | The sacred music concert in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Pueblo will feature sacred medieval chants, polyphony and contemporary choral sacred music, with a taste of secular music from Ireland. A free will offering will be collected.

Song of Pueblo events at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

Santa Fe | 6-7 p.m. Aug. 18, Ray Pachak's drum circle prelude performance on the paseo | 7 p.m. Song of Pueblo | Event showcases 300 years of history in Pueblo with songs devoted to topics such as the Sand Creek Massacre and the 1921 flood. The cultural history of Pueblo will include narration plus videos and photos that will be projected behind the musicians as they play. Cost is $15. Festivities continue at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, with an Indigenous Dance event at the Buell Children's Museum.
