Things to Do in Pueblo this weekend includes live music for humans and dogs

Friday, Aug. 18

Song of Pueblo events at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

210 N. Santa Fe | 6-7 p.m. Aug. 18, Ray Pachak's drum circle prelude performance on the paseo | 7 p.m. Song of Pueblo | Event showcases 300 years of history in Pueblo with songs devoted to topics such as the Sand Creek Massacre and the 1921 flood. The cultural history of Pueblo will include narration plus videos and photos that will be projected behind the musicians as they play. Cost is $15. Festivities continue at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, with an Indigenous Dance event featuring Sam Gallegos at the Buell Children's Museum.

Punk music concert at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show at 7 p.m. | Local punk groups including "Our Stars Align," "Sightlyne" and "KeepSweet" will play the Big Blo Stage. Cost is $10 at the door. Event is open to all ages.

Sunday, Aug. 20

Concert for dogs and their owners at Westminster Presbyterian Church

East side lawn, 10 Univesity Circle | 6:30 p.m. | The "Tunes 'n Tales: Doggy, Dog Summer Concert," will feature sacred and secular music and the sharing of a few stories about summer, peace, love and four-legged canine family members by musicians and singers from the Pueblo area. The event is open to the public and four-legged canine family members on a leash. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Water will be provided. Call 719-561-8031 for information.

Monday, Aug. 21

Celebration Walk at Pueblo Community College

900 W. Orman Ave. | 11:30 a.m. | The 14th annual Celebration Walk will kick off the fall semester. The event will begin in front of the Gorsich Advanced Technology Center near the corner of Orman Avenue and Arthur Street.

Summer Sing with Pueblo Choral Society at First United Methodist Church

Booth Hall, 310 W. 11th St. | 7 p.m. | The annual event is open to anyone who likes to sing and is considering joining the organization. Learn about the choral and sign along with some of the music for this season's concerts.

Thursday, Aug. 24

Music, Malt & Mead at Abriendo Inn

300 W. Abriendo Ave. | 6-9 p.m. | Southern Belle will perform "unplugged" country and rock for the summer concert series in the garden. Tickets are $15 and available at abriendoinn.com/events. Walk-ins are welcome. There will be beer, wine and food trucks on site.

Friday, Aug. 25

Jeffrey Dallet concert at the Analogue

216 N. Main St. | 7-9 p.m. | Denver musician Jeffrey Dallet will perform a mix of rock and folk music. His unique style of songwriting blends storytelling, social commentary and tales of lost love. The event is free.

Deadline for A Caring Pregnancy Center fundraising banquet

Pueblo Convention Center, 320 Central Main St. | 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 is the event, Aug. 25 is deadline for tickets | RSVP via email at office@acpcpueblo.org or call 719-544-9321. Public speaker at activist Seth Gruber is keynote speaker. Cost is $60 per person.

Saturday, Aug. 26

Art Class for Veterans at Sangre de Cristo Arts Center

210 N. Santa Fe | 2-3:30 p.m. | The community art class for veterans is sponsored by the arts center and Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center. The class will help students develop self-awareness and explore emotions through artistic expression in a safe and welcoming environment. The Martini Shot Summer Concert in Pueblo West

Civic Center Park, 61 E. Civic Center Plaza | 4-9:30 p.m. | The Martini Shot will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. performing rock 'n roll originals and covers. The event will include a beer garden, kids activities and carnival games, food truck, and extended splash pad hours from 4-6 p.m. Cost is $5 per person.

Southern Colorado Fashion Show at Blo Back Gallery

131 Spring St. | 6-10 p.m. | The colorful fashion extravaganza will feature local fashion designers, artists and performers. There will be food and refreshments, shopping, art vendors and a DJ after party. Cost ranges from $10 to $45. Tickets are available at southerncoloradofashion.com.

Free Movie in the Park at City Park

800 Goodnight Ave. | Pre-movie activities start at 6:30 p.m., movie at dusk | The Lorax, rated PG will be shown on the big screen near The Rides at City Park and the playground. Bring the whole family and a blanket or chair to sit on. There will be concessions and food trucks on site to purchase something to eat.

Star Party at Lake Pueblo

Visitors' Center, South Marina Road | 7:30 p.m. | The Southern Colorado Astronomical Society Club event will feature a slide presentation at the Visitor Center by the south shore marina then move to the parking lots for stargazing telescope viewing. Park passes are not needed.

Wednesday, Aug. 30

Pueblo Chemical Depot commemoration at Pueblo Convention Center

320 Central Main St. | 2-4 p.m. | The event will feature and 90-minute program and reception marking the completion of the destruction of the entire chemical weapons stockpile in Colorado, stored since the 1950s at the Pueblo Chemical Depot. The event includes musical performances by the Fort Carson 4th Infantry Division Band and Pueblo County High Voices. Program will include recognition of past and present workforce members, the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, state officials, and other partner groups. The event is free and open to the public.
