Things to do: Place your bets as Night at the Races returns to benefit county fairgrounds

Hosted by the Guernsey County Fair and fairgrounds to benefit the fair, head to the Deerassic Park for a Night at the Races on Friday, April 19. The doors will open at 6 p.m., with dinner starting at 7 p.m. and racing to follow. Guests can purchase a $40 Pacesetter ticket that includes dinner, a $40 jockey ticket for a horse only, a $75 owner ticket for dinner and a horse or a Breeder's Cup Table for $400 that includes eight dinners and horses. Rounding out the evening will be a 50/50 drawing, a best derby hat contest, and a live auction with the fastest mouth in the south, Casey Raber as the auctioneer. Comedy show

The popular and long-running improv television show "Whose Line is it Anyway?" is coming to town. Current cast members will perform their 90-minute set at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Peoples Bank Theatre in Marietta. Laugh the night away as cast members Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Joel Murray and Jeff B. Davis sing, dance and act out hilarious scenes. The show welcomes all but is deemed PG-13 for mild adult humor and language. Kitten shower

We've all heard of a baby shower, but Maddy's Cat Rescue will host a kitten shower from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Deerassic Park. Guests are asked to bring donations of cat food, litter, or anything cat-related to help the non-profit. Those wishing to cuddle up with some little balls of fluff, fear not. The rescue plans to bring adoptable kittens to the event. A litter and kitten-food raffle will be held, where one donation item will get you one ticket to enter, and four items will get you four tickets. Light refreshments will be served and various games will be on the schedule also. Visit the event's Facebook page for a list of requested donations. Expo show

The Columbus Oddities & Curiosities Expo returns on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21. Take a break from the norm and head to Columbus for a creepy good time. According to the Facebook event post, "You'll find items such as taxidermy, preserved specimens, original artwork, horror/Halloween inspired pieces, antiques, handcrafted oddities, quack medical devices, creepy clothing, odd jewelry, skulls/bones, funeral collectibles and much more." Guests can take a rat or jackalope taxidermy class or an Entolomogy and bug pining class for an additional charge. The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Kids aged 12 and under are free. Networking event

Who says networking can't be fun? Stop into the East Central Ohio Education Service Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to get to know other local professionals. Hosted by the Cambridge Area Chamber of Commerce, this recurring event occurs at various places in Cambridge and is open to anyone wishing to make more connections. R & R Catering and Consulting will craft food and mocktails and prizes will be awarded. For more information or to RSVP call the chamber at 740-439-6688.
