Gulf Coast Love Story

5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. Pensacola Public Library, 239 N. Spring St. Gulf Coast Love Story brings to the screen the hopes and struggles of Gulf coast communities on the front lines of fossil fuels and climate change. The film listens to a poet, chef, musician, dancer, photographer and painters along the beaches and the bayous of the Gulf Coast. These are the stories of people and communities that are remembering, healing, visioning and building a movement for a healthy future amidst oil rigs and petrochemical plants. 25th annual Crab Cake Cook-Off

6 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. The Arc Gateway is hosting their 25th annual Crab Cake Cook-Off presented by Sims Orthodontics. The event is one of Pensacola’s most iconic and well-attended fundraisers, and proceeds benefit local programs that foster community inclusion and empower those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Approximately 20 restaurants and chefs from across the region will compete for bragging rights and the title of "Best Crab Cake on the Coast." Each cooking team brings samples of their own crab cake recipe for event attendees to taste and vote in the People's Choice competition. General admission: $75. VIP Experience: $150. Gregory St. UNITE is a movement pioneered by the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association that seeks to bring communities across America together under the name of Jesus. Over the last two years they have seen over 30,000 people join them at UNITE events and thousands make decisions for Christ. Running of the Bulls

6:30 p.m. Friday, July 21. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Seville Quarter is once again recreating the “Running of the Bulls” in the streets of historic downtown Pensacola. This fun, family-friendly event is Pensacola's version of the Festival de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain, which was made famous by author Ernest Hemingway’s 1926 novel “The Sun Also Rises”, and a tribute to Pensacola’s Spanish heritage. The beneficiary is the West Florida Roller Derby, a 501c3 non-profit organization and member of WFTDA, a women’s roller derby club that promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill. $25 before July 17; $30 after. Disco Lemonade

Palafox St. Established in 2019, drummer Justin Stone, bassist John Michael Adams, guitarist Jack Nicholas, keys/guitar/vocals Tyler Kendrick and vocalist Gabby Merz came together to create Disco Lemonade. The band incorporates alternative rock with a funky twist and a synthesizer. Every show they deliver chemistry and grooves for the audience’s ear drums and viewing pleasure. One of these fellow musicians just happened to be Tom Petty’s doppelganger, guitarist and lead vocalist Jonathan Guthrie. Guthrie was an avid fan and had always fantasized about being a Heartbreaker. As two seasoned musicians and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers fans, there was really only one thing for them to do – form a Tom Petty tribute band. $40. For all ages.
