First City Lights Festival

Wednesday, Nov. 8 through Saturday, Jan. 13. Downtown Pensacola. The Downtown Improvement Board hosts their annual holiday lighting ceremony First City Lights Festival. Throughout the holiday season attendees will experience music, shopping, food, art and nightlife under a canopy of white lights illuminating downtown Pensacola. More info: downtownpensacola.com.

Monday Night Blues

7 p.m. Monday, Jan 8. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Seville Quarter and the Blues Society of Northwest Florida are bringing the “blues” back to the Seville Quarter Entertainment District. Snowbird Welcome Party

Navarre Beach Visitor Center, 8543 Navarre Parkway. Join the Visitor Center crew as they officially kick off the season of snowbirds. This event is open to winter visitors only, no locals. Visitor Center staff will be on hand to distribute class schedules and other pertinent information. This will be an opportunity to mingle, sign up for upcoming classes, and ask any questions. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10. Saenger Theatre, 118 S. Palafox St. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a charming story for all ages with the beautiful grandeur of classical ballet and the promise of a happily ever after. By order of her evil stepmother, Snow White leaves her home. Along her journey, she meets the funny, kind and fabulous dwarfs and falls in love with the prince who saves her from the curse of the evil stepmother witch. As you embark on this story, you will see how the power of good and love conquers evil. The latest production from The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine is performed live by a troupe of 50 ballet dancers who have gathered to bring one of the most famous fairy tales to life. Snowbird Hootenanny: New Year, New Boots

11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11. Flora-Bama Lounge & Package, 17401 Perdido Key Drive. Snowbirds are invited to the Flora-Bama for a hoedown on the line. Experience the essence of the Perdido Key area from Gulf Shores to Pensacola. Grab those cowboy hats and boots and show off your best western gear. There will be plenty of vendors giving away free goodies, along with music, activities and door prize drawings. Food will be provided by the chefs at the Flora-Bama as well as one free beverage. $10. Rowe vs. Fix Wine Pairing Dinner

7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Join Seville Quarter for a five-course heavyweight wine matchup featuring Breakthru’s Max Rowe and Winebow’s Michael Fix. Each wine maestro has paired a gem from their portfolio with a course, and attendees get to decide the winner. Blind tastings, revealed between courses, promise an evening of discovery and delight. Rumours ATL: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute

Beethoven & Blue Jeans

7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Saenger Theatre, 118 S. Palafox St. Whether or not you choose to wear your favorite denim to this concert, join the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra for this annual celebration of Beethoven, anchored by the composer’s Fourth Symphony. A beguiling work filled with a spirit of joviality, it was once described by the composer Hector Berlioz as possessing “heavenly gentleness.” Known for its musical variety, the program continues with a South American influence, featuring soprano Danielle Talamantes performing the aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 accompanied by eight solo cellos. Krewe of Seville Mardi Gras Ball

8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13. Zelica Grotto, 1000 South K St. The Krewe of Seville is hosting a Mardi Gras Ball featuring live music by Sheandetheits, an open bar and heavy appetizers. The dress is tuxedos and floor length gowns. $65. More info: pensacolamardigras.com.

SUNDAY

Krewe of Blues Pin and Bead Festival and Diaper Drive

10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14. Seville Square, 201 E. Gregory St. The 13th annual Krewe of Blues Pin and Bead Festival & Charity Diaper Drive is a great follow up to the Pensacola Mardi Gras Kick-off. This is a krewe driven event and can’t be successful without the participation of other krewes. Last year the drive collected 177,000 diapers as well as other items and donations for the Gulf Coast Kids House and Santa Rosa Kids House. Come represent your krewe and charity. Attendance is free except for krewes or business who wish to have a tent set up. More info: pensacolamardigras.com.
