Things to do: Monster Jam, Nuggets watch party and more

DENVER (KDVR) — Spring storms are headed to the Denver metro area over the weekend, but that doesn’t mean Denverites have to stay cooped up at home.

Sports fans are in for a treat this weekend, with several games and watch parties happening for Mile High City teams.

FOX31 has compiled a list of things to do so you can keep busy this weekend.

Games and watch parties

Colorado has two teams in the playoffs in their respective leagues, and games for both are going on all weekend long.

The Colorado Avalanche are up against the Winnipeg Jets in round one of the NHL playoffs. Two games are set to happen over the weekend — one on Friday at 8 p.m. and another on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Tickets for both games are still available.

Both games are at Ball Arena, which means the other team that calls the arena home will be away. The Denver Nuggets play one game in Los Angeles against the Lakers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

An official watch party is being held at Stoney’s Bar and Grill. It will start at 6 p.m., 30 minutes before tipoff.

The Colorado Rockies are playing two games in Mexico City against the Houston Astros — one on Saturday at 4:05 p.m. and another on Sunday at 2:05 p.m.

And don’t forget that the Colorado Buffaloes are back on the grass at Folsom Field for the Spring Game. It’s Black and Gold Weekend, which also includes a concert from Lil Wayne.

Monster Jam

While there aren’t any games happening at Empower Field at Mile High over the weekend, that doesn’t mean it’s going to sit empty.

Monster Jam is happening at the stadium on Saturday, which means the normally green field will be covered in dirt for the show.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m.
