This week, we’ve got several bands from New Bedford High School, bringing more than 100 years of music to the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum. Plus, a Memorial Day kick-off at the Jane Pickens Theater, sound meditation in Tiverton, and Secret Garden Tours in Newport.

New Bedford High School bands to perform at Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum

Get ready for a night of jazz, rock, and steel band music.

Three New Bedford High School bands will be returning to the Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 396 County St., New Bedford, on Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m.

The program will span 100 years of music, with each band offering a distinct style and repertoire.

Directed by Tim Mason, the New Bedford High School Jazz Band specializes in multiple styles of jazz and improvisation.

The New Bedford High School Steel Band, conducted by Lee Dias, performs contemporary music steeped in the traditions of Trinidad and Tobago.

Tom O’Leary directs the New Bedford High School Rock Band, which performs music from different eras of rock and roll.

General seating will be available on the museum’s tented patio. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs for seating on the lawn.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Memorial Day kick-off party at Jane Pickens Theater

The Broadway Street Fair is partnering with the James Montgomery Band for a Memorial Day kick-off party at the Jane Pickens Theater, 49 Touro St., Newport.

It will be held on Friday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m., with Montgomery and the All-Star Blues Band.

Dopey Lopes and the Up All Night Band will be opening the show at 7:30, and Montgomery and his band will be performing at 8:20 p.m.

Net proceeds from the show will benefit Broadway Street Fair and Operation Stand Down RI.

General admission tickets are $40.

Sounds of Harmony at Four Corners Arts Center

The Four Corners Arts Center presents Sounds of Harmony on Sunday, May 26, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., at The Meeting House, 3850 Main Rd., Tiverton.

This full-body sound experience will feature gongs, crystal bowls, and resonant instruments.

There will be a short, basic yoga practice, then a guided relaxation to lead into the sound meditation.

Dress comfortably, and feel free to bring a mat, thick blankets, and/or pillows. The Meeting House has wooden folding chairs, but it’s suggested that you bring your own if you prefer to sit.

The cost is $25.

Tickets will be available at the door, but registration is strongly encouraged.

Coming soon: Secret Garden Tours in Newport

Benefactors of the Arts present self-guided Secret Garden Tours in Newport, from June 28 to 30, where guests can tour the private gardens of some of Newport’s most prestigious properties.

The tours run daily, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and tickets are limited, with only 350 to be sold for each day.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at secretgardentours.org. They are $30.
