Things Go Wrong on ‘The Tonight Show’ With the Stars of ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’

On The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon welcomed the stars of The Play That Goes Wrong, in which nothing seems to work according to plan. Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, who was also a guest, discovered the play while in London and immediately wanted to bring it to Broadway. The play mixes physical humor with sharp British wit in various scenarios in which, you guessed it, things go wrong. And from the moment the actors came onto the Tonight Show stage, or at least attempted to, things went hilariously wrong.

As the three men entered the stage, the last one got his foot caught in the curtain, setting off a series of events in which it’s a good thing no one got hurt. Unable to pull him free, they decided that the best thing would be to move the couch over to him, setting it half on the floor and half on the stage. Still unable to conduct a proper interview, they then moved Abrams’s chair to the other side of the couch — all while tripping, falling, and breaking glasses and the microphone. In the end, the man’s foot was still caught in the curtain, and Fallon was using one of the other actors as a desk.
