Things to do in El Paso includes Tigres del Norte, Price is Right, and Johnny Cash tribute

Fans of Los Tigres del Norte will be happy to know that the popular group will be in El Paso and performing for free at Speaking Rock Entertainment Center this weekend.

The Plaza Theatre will be busy with great events, including Mexican singer Edith Marquez on Friday, comedian Mike Salazar on Saturday, and a Johnny Cash tribute concert on Tuesday. There are still plenty of good seats left for the Cash show.

If you're looking for a family event, try the reptile show at the El Maida Shrine this weekend. But beware, you might walk away with a new pet.

And later in the month, celebrate with Sparta as the band marks its 20th anniversary of their debut album.

The Price is Right will be at Plaza Theatre

The interactive stage show, "The Price Is Right Live," is in town this weekend. The event will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Plaza Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets ranging from $17 to $60, plus fees, are available at elpasolive.com or ticketmaster.com.

New Hope Lutheran Church, 4801 Sun Valley Drive, will have a Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11.

The El Paso Community Foundation Jewel Box Series will feature "Recommended Reading for Girls," at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, in the Philanthropy Theatre of the Plaza Theatre. General admission tickets are $15 at the Plaza Theatre Box Office and $15 plus service charges at Ticketmaster.com.

Johnny Cash: The Official Concert Experience

Reptile Expo at El Maida Shrine

Sparta to celebrate 20th anniversary

The El Paso band Sparta, led by musician Jim Ward, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their critically acclaimed debut album, Wiretap Scars, with a special hometown show on Nov. 24 at the Sun City Bar & Event Center, 6816 Commerce Ave.

At the time, Sparta was Ward, Paul Hinojos, and Tony Hajjar. The three formed Sparta following the break of their former band, the post-hardcore At the Drive-In. Tickets, ranging from $25 to $75, plus fees, are on sale at Eventbrite.com.
