Bluegrass show planned at Pennyroyal

FAIRVIEW — Guernsey County's only opera house, the Pennyroyal, will host a bluegrass show Friday featuring The Farm Hands. According to the press release, "Tim Graves and The Farm Hands is one of the most exciting and in-demand bands in bluegrass music. Since their inception in 2010, the band has received over 78 award nominations, winning 34 major awards including Bluegrass Gospel Band of the Year at the 2019 and 2020 Bluegrass Music Awards." The opening band for the evening will be Pinnacle Ridge. The kitchen and doors will open at 5 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $20 with those aged 12 and under free. Basket auction supports Main Street

A fun fundraiser returns to Guernsey County. Hosted by Cambridge Main Street, the basket auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center. Bring your checkbooks and bid on a variety of donated baskets. Proceeds from the basket auction will support Cambridge Main Street and its preservation and downtown revitalization efforts. Refreshments will be available and there will be a cash bar. The auction is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. Spring band concert

NEW CONCORD — Let the sweet sound of classical music sweep you away. Head to Brown Chapel at Muskingum University to hear the Muskingum University Music Department's spring band concert at 7 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy performances from the Muskingum University Wind Ensemble and Muskingum Valley Symphonic Winds. The Muskingum Valley Youth Wind Ensemble, an ensemble comprised of high school students from 16 area high schools, will also give its inaugural performance. This is a free, family-friendly event. Donations will be accepted at the door. The concert will be conducted by Dr. David Turrill, Muskingum University director of bands. Museum day

NORWICH — Zane Grey Family Day returns to the National Road and Zane Grey Museum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Attendees can enjoy free museum tours during the event and various activities. The John Glenn High School cheerleaders will be providing face painting and there will games for kids of all ages. Live entertainment will be provided featuring the Wayfarers and grab that perfect gift at the vendor fair. According to the press release, "A naturalist from the Senecaville Fish Hatchery will be on hand with local species of fish and information for kids and adults." Grab a bite from Inside Out BBQ, Brothers Treats, and wash it down with a drink from Mix-It-Up Lemonade. Cambridge Singers

The Cambridge Singers will return to the grand and historic Scottish Rite Auditorium to present their spring concert with the theme Get Happy. As the oldest continuously performing six-part harmony choir in the state of Ohio, the group knows how to entertain. The show will run at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4. The show will also run at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5. Tickets bought in advance are $10, and at the door are $12 per person. Those age 12 and under are free.
