Things to do: A Beatles tribute, boogie-woogie and jazz, or paint with the Bully Project
LAKELAND – The Florida weather has finally cooled down, slightly, but action across Polk County continues to heat up. Over the next four days, you can literally paint up some fun, boogie on down town or learn a bit about the contributions of African-Americans across the U.S.

Craig Brenner
Blues, boogie-woogie, jazz pianist Craig Brenner is a composer, teacher and recipient of multiple arts grants. He brings his keyboard stylings Friday, Feb. 2, to The Lakeland Loft jazz club, 108 S. Tennessee Ave. The free 9 p.m. show will feature an array of jazz and boogie-woogie standards as well as some of Brenner’s originals. Polk County Bully Project Paint Pawty
The first Polk County Bully Project Paint Pawty of the year, hosted by Lakeland’s Millie & Co. home décor and Crave Hot Dog & BBQ, takes place from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3. Guests will meet on the patio at Crave, 2250 Griffin Road, Lakeland, to paint one of four shelf sitter designs just in time for Valentine's Day. Cost is $45 and pre-registration is on Millie & Cos website. Additionally, $15 of each purchase gets donated to PCBP. Haven Local Shop 1st Birthday Celebration
Haven Shop, a boutique gift shop in Winter Haven, is hosting a “shop local” event at the store, 329 W. Central Ave., to celebrate a year of business in downtown Winter Haven. African American Heritage Celebration
The Florida Children’s Museum will host a celebration of African American heritage on Saturday, Feb. 3. Held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum, 600 Bonnet Springs Blvd. Lakeland, the special event features live performances, arts and crafts, children’s artwork on display, tributes to some of the black trailblazers and pioneers and other items and events related to black history. The celebration is included with daily admission to the museum or museum membership. There is no additional cost to participate in the celebration. Beatles Tribute Man
Heri Palos takes audiences on a musical journey performing all The Beatles classics from 1962 to 1970. The singer-songwriter-recording artist has been playing in the Latin & American rock scene for more than 30 years with several bands he founded and was invited to perform at The Cavern Club & The Casbah in Liverpool, England.
