Things to do: Auditions open for 'The Wizard of Oz' at Performing Arts Center

If you've dreamed of being on the stage at the Cambridge Performing Arts Center, here's your chance. Auditions open this week for a non-musical version of the beloved classic "The Wizard of Oz." There will be no need to perform an audition piece, as materials will be provided. Auditions are open to both adults and youth. Lead roles will be for those age 12 and older and include Dorothy, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow, Wicked Witch and Auntie M. Roles will be available for those aged 6 to11 as gatekeepers, munchkins, trees, monkeys and more. Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday and at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The show is set to run in late May. Jammin' finale

The Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center will play host to the final Jammin' for Johnson event on Saturday. The lineup consists of local powerhouses Dave Powers, Louis Tsamous, George DeLancey, Laura E. Schumann, Mike Robinson, Tim Milligan and his Big Fat Dog Blues Band and more. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the first act taking the stage at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show are $10 per person or $15 per couple and can only be purchased at the door. A 50/50 drawing will be held and a cash bar will be available. All proceeds from the evening will go towards the Bunk Johnson Music Scholarship fund. If you get hungry, fear not as Up In Smoke will be on the grounds providing some of the best barbeque options in town. For more information call 740-439-7009. Wild Wednesday

The Deerassic Park Education Center will be hosting its Wild Wednesday program on Wednesday and will focus on ticks and Lyme disease. Join Alexandria Fabian, dermatology physician assistant, as she discusses ticks, Lyme and everything in between. With the prevalence of Lyme disease seeing a local uptick, be sure to bring your questions. Registration is required for this free event and can be done by visiting https://deerassic.com. Light refreshments will be served and there will be door prizes as well. The event is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 28. For more information call 740-435-3335. Auction and reverse raffle

One of the area's biggest auctions of the year is also one of the biggest school fundraisers. Join the sisters at St. Benedict's from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2 for the annual auction and raffle. Always drawing a large crowd, this year the list of items to bid on keeps growing. The doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and the silent auction will take place from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the live auction at 11 a.m. A concession stand will be available and the raffle drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Items are being added daily so be sure to visit the event's Facebook page to follow along. Night at the museum

Explore the unique and rich history of Ohio after hours at the Ohio History Center during its Night at the Museum event. According to the Facebook event page, "This family-friendly event promises to entertain children and adults alike. Dozens of different characters will be roaming the museum, and you can learn all about their unique place in Ohio history. Grab an autograph book and collect the signatures from your favorites. Several hands-on activities for kids will also be available. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase." Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $18 for adults, $14 for kids ages 4 to 12, and children 3 and under are free. Purchase tickets by visiting https://www.ohiohistory.org.
