Things to do around Chicago: Phish, a street art tour and Open House Chicago

This weekend, concerts by Phish and the Legends of Hip Hop, Sandra Cisneros at the Humanities Festival and your annual chance to see inside some Chicago landmarks.

Offbeat Street Art Tour

This outdoor walking tour takes in Chicago’s street art scene, starting in Wicker Park near the Damen CTA station, heading to the 606 trail and ending up in Logan Square, about two hours and two miles in all.

Claudio Simonetti and Goblin

Perfect live music for October. Simonetti is the Italian composer of some of the most noted scores in horror film, including for “Suspiria” and “Dawn of the Dead.” His band Goblins will perform the live score to Dario Argento’s 1985 Italian horror film “Demons,” set to a screening of the movie, along with some original Goblin material.

Phish

The jam band at the top of the genre keeps on touring. With lead Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboardist Page McConnell, they’re playing three nights in Chicago as part of their fall tour.

Open House Chicago

The Chicago Architecture Center’s free annual October event grants access to all kinds of sites across Chicago, this fall across 20-plus neighborhoods. Your chance to visit Open House favorites — such as the Pullman House Museum and Riviera Theater — and buildings rarely open to the public, like the Edgewater Beach Apartments and The Forum in Bronzeville. Also the National Cambodian Heritage Museum in Lincoln Square and Walt Disney’s birth house in Hermosa.

Sandra Cisneros

The Chicago-born author’s event for the Chicago Humanities Festival centers on her return to poetry and her new book “Woman Without Shame.” Her presentation is titled “On Being a Mexican Woman and Searching for Home.”

The Legends of Hip Hop

The musical tour with a lineup including Juvenile, 8Ball & MJG, Goodie Mob, Scarface, Bun B, DJ Quik and Tha Dogg Pound is on the UIC campus.

Jeff Garlin

The Chicago-born comic actor and Second City alum known for “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and a deep roster of other roles is doing standup in Rosemont for one night only next week.

Garden of Decay

A brand new haunted house walk-through experience with a nature theme and story (“a grieving botanist’s desperate quest for resurrection”), plus audio narration and art installations. It’s all-ages when it first opens in the evening, then becomes ages 18+ after dark at 7:15 p.m.

Chicago International Film Festival

This is the opening weekend for the biggest film event on Chicago’s movie-going calendar. Aside from “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” of course.
