'5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche' will be staged at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday in Fellowship Hall at Trinity United Church of Christ, 3909 Blackburn Road NW in Canton.

The story is set in 1956 in middle America, where the annual quiche breakfast of the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein is being held. When atomic bomb sirens sound in the town, the five women find themselves locked inside.

Co-written by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder, the play features Zen Davis, Jacki Dietz, Mary Lou Ianni, Jodi Wilson and Heather Wylie.

Wilson and Deer have worked together on past theatrical productions, including in the 1980s at the Players Guild Theatre and at North Canton Playhouse. Derr and Ianni also have collaborated theatrically.

Deer founded the Contract Players Theatre in the mid 1980s in Jackson Township, featuring new works and those produced in the Stark County area. She also is the former drama teacher at GlenOak High School.

"Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche" is recommended for ages 13 and older.

The Laurel and Hardy silent film "Big Business" will be shown at 2 p.m. today at the Canton Palace Theatre.

Accompanying the film will be Jay Spencer on the historic Kilgen organ. There will also be a holiday singalong and piano music by Jim Mismas and vocals by Lisa Knight.

Doors open at 1 p.m. Admission is $12; groups of 10 cost $10 each. All seating is general admission.

Canton Symphony Orchestra will present the Baroque Bash MasterWorks concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Umstattd Hall at Zimmermann Symphony Center.

Longtime Canton Symphony piccolo player Julie Sarver will be featured on Vilvadi's Piccolo Concerto in C Major.

Music also will include the Overture in C Major by Marianna Martinez, a little-known 18th century female composer who was an acquaintance of Mozart and Haydn. Conducted by Kelly Corcoran, the concert concludes with Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks."

4. 'Triangle Park' is documentary film about first NFL game

"Triangle Park," a documentary about the first NFL game, will be shown at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Canton Palace Theatre.

Written and directed by Allen Farst, the documentary is based on the first NFL football game and features scenes filmed at Bender's Tavern in downtown Canton.

The Dayton Triangles and Columbus Panhandles played on Oct. 3, 1920 in front of 5,000 fans.

Descendants of the former players are interviewed in the documentary, with appearances by modern NFL greats Troy Aikman, Eric Dickerson, Cris Collinsworth and Ben Roethlisberger, as well as Joe Buck and Larry Fitzgerald.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Following the 90-minute movie, there will be a question-and-answer session with Farst.

Narrated by Michele Tafoya, the movie also will be shown at AMC Theatres on Nov. 22 in every city that is home to an NFL franchise.

5. '4 Shades of Elvis' in Massillon

KAVAN will perform the "4 Shades of Elvis" on Saturday at Lions Lincoln Theatre in downtown Massillon.

Backed by the Memphis Flash Band and a three-piece horn section, KAVAN will cover Elvis Presley's early years, movie era, the '68 comeback and "Aloha from Hawaii."

KAVAN also has performed as Elvis in the musical "Million Dollar Quartet." He also appeared on the BBC's "The World Greatest Elvis" television competition.
