Battleship Cove: Holiday Tea at the Maritime Museum

On Sunday, Dec. 10, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., the Maritime Museum at Battleship Cove, 5 Water St., Fall River, is hosting a Holiday Tea. Enjoy tea, cookies, scones, and cupcakes. What's my password?: Westport Council on Aging offers tech sessions

The Westport Council on Aging continues to offer its technology program for seniors. Classes are held on Wednesday afternoons at the Computer Cafe in the Senior Center, 75 Reed Road, Westport.

The next session is “All About Your Personal Accounts & Passwords” on Wednesday, Dec. 6. These classes are for anyone who is 55 and older, and classes are free. One-on-one personalized sessions are available by appointment on Thursday mornings. Registration is required for all classes. Call the Westport Council on Aging at 508-636-1026.

Holiday party: Northern Lights at New Bedford Art Museum

Catch the aurora borealis without ever having to leave the SouthCoast. The New Bedford Art Museum, 608 Pleasant St., is hosting a Northern Lights holiday party on Wednesday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy entertainment, interactive sensory artworks, and a special wintry cocktail, while surrounded by beautiful projections of the Northern Lights. Get outdoors with Audubon: Owl Prowl in Seekonk

Whooo’s in the woods? Owls, of course! On Thursday, Dec. 7, the Audubon Caratunk Wildlife Refuge, 301 Brown Ave., Seekonk, is hosting an Owl Prowl from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Walk the trails of Caratunk at night to listen and look for resident owls. Learn about their unique calls, and even more about these amazing birds.

Dress for the weather, wear sturdy walking shoes, and bring a flashlight. This event is for guests ages 10 and up. Tickets are $10 for adult members ($5 for children) and $14 for non-member adults ($7 for children). Registration is required at asri.org/calendar.

Live music: Winter holiday concert at Freetown Historical Society

The Freetown Historical Society, 1 Slab Bridge Road, Assonet, is hosting a winter holiday concert performance by The Harper and the Minstrel on Friday, Dec. 8, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Enjoy an evening of medieval, Renaissance, Celtic and popular holiday music on a variety of woodwind instruments. Gems and Jewels Ball: Special event at Fall River's historic carousel

Get ready to sparkle at the inaugural Gems and Jewels Ball on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. Held at the historic carousel at Fall River's Battleship Cove, this event is presented by Bristol Black Collective Inc. Celebrating the hidden gems and jewels who make the local community a better place, the ball will feature live music, dancing, and carousel rides. Holiday classic: ‘A New England Nutcracker’ with New Bedford Ballet

New Bedford Ballet presents its annual production of “A New England Nutcracker” on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Keith Middle School Auditorium, 225 Hathaway Blvd., New Bedford. Journey back to the 1850s, as this holiday classic is reimagined through New Bedford’s whaling era.

The performance is an hour long. Tickets are $25 for adults, and $15 for seniors, students, and children ages 2 to 12. Children 2 and under get in free. New Bedford Symphony Orchestra: Annual Holiday Pops Family Concert

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra will offer two performances of its annual Holiday Pops Family Concert on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Bronspiegel Auditorium at New Bedford High School, 230 Hathaway Blvd. Performances will take place at 3:30 p.m. at 7 p.m. The matinee will provide a gift for each child, while the evening show features a bit more music. Enjoy lots of holiday favorites, like selections from “The Nutcracker.”

Members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Youth Orchestras and the Showstoppers will join the orchestra for several numbers. Both concerts will be about an hour each, with no intermission. Tickets are $20 to $43 for adults and $10 for children and students (not available online). Free parking is available in the lots around the high school, or across the street at Keith Middle School.

'Hometown Holiday’: Plymouth Philharmonic Holiday Pops concert

The Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra presents “Hometown Holiday,” a holiday pops concert, full of seasonal favorites. There will be three performances: Saturday, Dec. 9, at 3 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. All performances will be at Plymouth Memorial Hall, 83 Court St. The Saturday afternoon performance will include an American Sign Language interpreter.

These events will include a charity toy drive: guests are invited to bring a new, unwrapped toy. Collected toys will be distributed by the Children’s Holiday Fund. For tickets, and for questions about the ASL interpreter, contact 508-746-8008, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Get crafty: Make a tin Christmas ornament at Lafayette-Durfee House

Stop by the Lafayette-Durfee House, 94 Cherry St., Fall River, on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m., to make a tin Christmas ornament. John the Tinner from Fairhaven Village Militia to help guests of all ages make an ornament for their tree, or to give as a gift. For more information, follow along on Facebook.

Four Corners Arts Center: An afternoon of Baroque music

Music and nature combine at The Meeting House, 3850 Main Road, Tiverton, on Sunday, Dec. 10,  at 2 p.m. “Nature Speaks with Us Everywhere: An Afternoon of Baroque Music,” features Heidi Dio, Brian Barting, and Mike Shand. Tickets are $20. They can be purchased at the door, or in advance at FourCornersArts.org. All proceeds go toward supporting programming at the Four Corners Arts Center.

Give kindness: Make holiday cards for hospitalized kids

Now until mid-December, you can help spread some holiday cheer to hospitalized children. Stop by the Dartmouth Mall, where there’s a special card-making station. Create a holiday card and drop it in the mailbox, to brighten up the holidays for a sick kid. Cards will be distributed by Cards for Hospitalized Kids. Gilded Age glam: Sparkling Lights at The Breakers

Now through Dec. 30, bask in the warmth of a little Gilded Age glamor with Sparkling Lights at The Breakers. The mansion at 44 Ochre Point Ave., Newport, will feature dazzling light displays for the fourth year in a row. There will also be fire pits, s’mores kits for sale, holiday treats, and adult beverages for purchase on the back terrace at The Breakers Welcome Center. Holly jolly history: Freedom Trail holiday strolls

Travel a little further to explore some festive history. The Freedom Trail in Boston is offering Historic Holiday Strolls, now through Dec. 30. Strolls are offered on Fridays and Saturdays, at 3:30 p.m. Discover how Boston’s holiday traditions evolved on this 90-minute tour, led by guides in Dickensian costume.
