For some, the weekends are all about getting out. Let's see if we can help you find a place to go. (And in the music world, the weekend really begins Thursday night.)

The South Shore and nearby towns will be filled with live music at venues big and small.

Another busy music week ahead, and there's really a lot of variety in styles out there, the three-day weekend means a busy Sunday night, as well as a seeming resurgence in local comedy, and even a Soprano rocker on Monday.

Locally, Hanover's Aldous Collins Band continues its residency Thursday at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke and Marshfield's Anthony Geraci, an internationally acclaimed blues pianist, and his Boston Blues All Stars will play a rare local show at The Spire Center in Plymouth on Friday.

THURSDAY, Nov. 9: Aldous Collins Band continues residency

The November residency by Hanover's Aldous Collins Band at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke is packing them in, as the ACB is one of the best bets for a good time you're going to find. The potent folk trio House of Hamill takes over The Spire Center in Plymouth. The Cadillac Three is one of country-pop's biggest bands, at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Katatonia, a Swedish heavy metal band, is at The Sinclair in Cambridge.

Puerto Rican rapper Myke Towers headlines MGM Music Hall in Boston. Cold Chocolate's "newgrass" at The Lizard Lounge in Cambridge. Blank Banshee is actually a Canadian artist who plays what they call "vaportrap" – bring your dancing sneakers – at Brighton Music Hall in Boston. The 7-piece Kotoko Brass with jazz, world music, and dance fever at Somerville's Crystal Ballroom.

FRIDAY, Nov. 10:

Marshfield's Anthony Geraci is an internationally acclaimed blues pianist, and his Boston Blues All Stars is the tightest and hottest quartet you will ever find, at The Spire Center in Plymouth in what is now one of their rare local performances. The Freight heats up The C-Note in Hull. Manel the Island Man comes from the Azores, and performs a Portuguese version of classic rock, at The Narrows Center in Fall River.

One of the newest "hunks-in-a-hat," is Warren Zeiders, playing country music at the House of Blues in Boston. Pop star Daniel Seavey – also part of the band Why Don't We – headlines the Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

6lack is the singer/rapper headlining MGM Music Hall in Boston. Louise Adams tops the bill at the South Shore Folk Music Club in Duxbury. Indie rock legends The Menzingers shake up Roadrunner in Allston. Couch is a metal band all the way from Munich, thundering into Royale in Boston. New Hampshire's Joe Samba plays pop-rock-reggae at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke. The 10th District Brewery in Abington hosts a comedy night. Folksinger Taylor Ashton celebrates his new album at Club Passim in Cambridge.

SATURDAY, Nov. 11:

Up-and-coming blues artist Gabe Stillman – with an impressive finish in the International Blues Challenge and a Gibson Guitar Award – makes his debut at the Spire Center in Plymouth. Craig Carter and The Hurricane rock the Next Page Cafe in Weymouth. Whitman's rocker-for-all-seasons Munk Duane heats up The Levitate Backyard in Marshfield. The Waves bring the party to Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke.  Perennial favorites The Gratefuls rock the The C-Note in Hull, and it's a benefit for Consequence Forum.

Southern rockers Needtobreathe hit MGM Music Hall in Boston. The artist known as Roosevelt – actually German synth-pop dude Marius Lauber – arrives at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston. The RegattaBar in Harvard Square features the Bevan Manson Octet, which includes singer Tierney Sutton, and vibes master Joe Locke. The Nields harmonize at Club Passim in Cambridge.

Country singer Ian Munsick at the House of Blues. Ne Obliviscaris – Latin for "don't forget" – is an Australian metal band, landing at Brighton Music Hall. The Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston has soul/gospel group Sweet Honey in the Rock for shows Saturday and Sunday. Boston jazz star Josh Rosen brings his band Melt to Boston Harbor Distillery in Dorchester. Don't forget comic-hypnotist Frank Santos Jr. at Foxboro's Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center.

SUNDAY, Nov. 12: Comedy acts take center stage in Plymouth

Sunday afternoon (3 p.m.)  you can catch a comedy show topped by John Perrotta at Plymouth's 1620 Winery at Cordage Park. Sunday night rockers The 1975 headline TD Garden in Boston; genre-busting singer Teddy Swims takes over Roadrunner in Boston; the Runaway Grooms jam at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke; Akon raps at MGM Music Hall in Boston; and TikTok star Petey sings at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston.

Coming attractions

MONDAY: The prog-rock trio Zopa blazes into Brighton Music Hall and if the guitarist resembles Christopher Moltisanti, erstwhile Tony Soprano pal, that's because the band is the side project of actor Michael Imperioli. Also Monday, country singer Wyatt Flores comes to Royale in Boston.

TUESDAY: Indie rocker Shakey Graves is at Roadrunner in Boston; the pop duo Drama tops the bill at Royale in Boston; Michigan emo band Hot Mulligan takes over the House of Blues in Boston; and indie rock everyman Mike Doughty returns to Brighton Music Hall.

WEDNESDAY: The rootsy Carolinas quartet Mipso lights up The Sinclair in Cambridge; while comic-rapper Zach Fox appears at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston; and the Future Teens rock The Crystal Ballroom in Somerville. Wednesday also marks the beginning of the 2023 edition of the International Pop Overthrow, a multi-band fest at The Square Root in Boston, with five bands per night; Wednesday includes country-rocker Kelly Knapp; Nov. 16 includes beloved former Stomper leader Sal Baglio; Nov. 17 has garage rockers Muck & the Mires; and Nov. 18 has the sublime sounds of Hummingbird Syndicate.

NOV. 16: Indie rockers Slaughter Beach, Dog headline Roadrunner in Boston; folkies Letterkenny harmonize at Royale in Boston; and The C-Note in Hull hosts a comedy night topped by Bob Niles.
