Nomadland, Hulu: 6 Nominations

Frances McDormand has two Best Actress Oscars to her name. She could take home a third this weekend for her portrayal of Fern, a woman in her 60s who after losing her job and mourning the loss of her husband, takes off on a journey through the American West as a van-dwelling nomad. Nomadland won the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama and Best Director in February, making Chloé Zhao the second woman and the first Asian woman to reach that triumph.
Soul, Disney+: 3 Nominations

Best Achievement in Sound
A heavy favorite for Best Animated Feature in large part to its win in that same category at the Golden Globes, BAFTA and Critics' Choice Awards, Soul tells the heartwarming story of middle-school music teacher Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), whose true passion is jazz and playing in front of sold-out crowds. After falling through a manhole, he travels to another realm to help 22 (Tina Fey) find her 'spark' and soon discovers what it means to truly have soul.
Mulan, Disney+: 2 Nominations

In Mulan, a live-action adaption of the 1998 animated favorite of the same name, a young girl disguises herself as a male soldier to square off against northern invaders in China and protect her aging father from serving in the Imperial Army. Even without catchy musical numbers and fan favorite sidekick Mushu, it still captured the attention of Academy voters and nostalgic Disney fans alike.
Onward, Disney+: 1 Nomination
Best Animated Feature
Featuring an all-star cast of Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Julia-Louis Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer, Onward follows two teenage elves Ian and Barley on their magical trek to spend one more day with their late father. In true Disney fashion, they're met with hurdles and setbacks but in the end, learn a valuable lesson.
The One and Only Ivan, Disney+: 1 Nomination
Best Visual Effects
Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie produces and stars in The One and Only Ivan alongside previous Oscar winners Sam Rockwell and Helen Mirren. Equipped with a plan to escape captivity, a gorilla named Ivan begins to piece together bits of his past with assistance of an elephant named Ruby.
Burrow, Disney+: 1 Nomination
Best Animated Short Film
The 2D animated short film Burrow is only six minutes long, so watch it while enjoying a morning coffee or a short break from work. Despite lacking an idea of what she imagines the final result to be, a young rabbit persists to dig the burrow of her dreams. After stopping short at (bed) rock bottom, she ultimately learns there is nothing wrong in asking for help.
The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Hulu: 1 Nomination
Best Actress in a Leading Role—Andra Day
Actress Andra Day put the Academy on notice after she secured the Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama. Playing the titular role of the late jazz artist, the film follows Holiday during her career as she is targeted by the government with an undercover sting procedure led by Black Federal Agent Jimmy Fletcher (Trevante Rhodes), with whom she was also romantically involved with.
