'The Voice' Star Christina Grimmie Missing From the 2016 Emmys’ In Memoriam Tribute
On Sunday, The Voice won its third Emmy for Best Reality-Competition Program. But ironically, one of the biggest stars in Voice history, Christina Grimmie (who was tragically shot dead by a crazed “fan” this past June) was not included in the Emmys’ In Memoriam segment — sparking ire from Grimmie’s devoted fanbase.
So the #Emmys left Christina Grimmie out of the "In Memoriam" segment yet The Voice just won an Emmy tonight. Something ain't right here ????

Considering the number of other singers in the #Emmys in memoriam.. where was Christina Grimmie?

Making Grimmie’s omission even more sad and surprising was the fact that Tori Kelly — who sang Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” during the ceremony’s tribute — actually recently wrote an original song for Grimmie, “Blink of an Eye.” (Kelly posted the acoustic ballad on her YouTube channel in July with this statement: “This song was written for Christina Grimmie after she passed away tragically. I needed to write this song… my heart was and is still so heavy when I think of her not being with us.”) However, Kelly didn’t get the opportunity to pay homage to her late friend at the Emmys this year.

While other recently departed music stars, like David Bowie, Prince, Glenn Frey, Merle Haggard, and Natalie Cole, were honored by the Emmys this year, Grimmie wasn’t the only glaring omission during Sunday’s In Memoriam tribute. One Day at a Time’s Pat Harrington Jr., Harlem Globetrotter Meadowlark Lemon, Alice’s Beth Howland, Punky Brewster’s George Gaynes, The Waltons creator Earl Hamner Jr., Benson’s James Noble, wrestler Chyna, and The Surreal Life’s Alexis Arquette were among the many missing as well.
