Airlines carried a record-breaking 4.1 billion passengers in 2017 according to the International Air Transport Association. As more people continue to head to airports, The Private Suite is among the companies looking to cash in on a growing segment.
“We want to be the company that gives you the backdoor access to the airport,” said The Private Suite’s Chief Commercial Officer, Amina Belouizdad on Yahoo Finance’s The Final Round.
The Private Suite, which opened in 2017, is a private airport terminal for commercial flights — the only one in the United States — and operates out of LAX airport. For an annual membership fee of $4,500 a year, Private Suite users have access to their own fully stocked suite. The company also has it’s own security check-in, allowing travelers to bypass lines at TSA and completing the check-in within The Private Suite facility. Once guests are ready to board the plane, The Private Suite will drive the passenger to the aircraft.
While the two-year-old terminal is only available to LAX flyers for now, Belouizdad said there is potential for this to expand nationwide.
“We’re in LA right now and there’s no reason this should not exist in every major city in the United States. We’re in discussions at JFK here in New York and we have our eyes set on a few other obvious major cities. The concept actually exists in almost every major international city. We’re just the first to bring it here to the U.S.”
Other contenders bringing the concept to the masses include Royal Airport Concierge and Asia Fast Track, offering passengers an “elevated” experience. With companies finding success abroad, perhaps U.S. fliers will respond with as much enthusiasm.
