With an incoming Trump administration, it’s time to get wistful reflecting on the past eight years under an Obama presidency.
America’s favorite first couple, Barack and Michelle Obama, gave the nation not only eight years of hope but eight years of romance as well — the passionate, all-consuming kind of romance that one reads about in a Jane Austen novel or Bridget Jones’s Diary.
Hopeless romantics everywhere collectively swooned when the press corps captured the commander in chief and first lady’s public displays of affection at social and state events. Michelle Obama referred to her husband as “my boo” on Valentine’s Day, and President Obama consistently (and rightfully) praised his significant other on her beauty and accomplishments. Their romance even inspired a film, Southside With You, about their first date.
