The New Bachelorette Finally Gets Sent Home From ‘The Bachelor’

It was announced (leaked) a few weeks ago that current Bachelor contestant Rachel Lindsay would be the next Bachelorette. Not only is this the first time ABC has cast a person of color in the leading role for The Bachelorette or The Bachelor, but also Rachel was the first one to be announced while she was still vying for someone else’s love on the current show. So it was strange for fans watching the last couple weeks knowing that it was just a matter of time before Rachel was going home without a rose. On Monday night, the inevitable finally happened.

However, before Bachelor Nick Viall sent Rachel packing, there was some unfinished business (i.e., the fantasy suite). Rachel finally admitted to Nick that she was falling in love with him, which she was very afraid to do. After professing her love, Nick invited her to the fantasy suite, and the two disappeared behind a bedroom door.

At the rose ceremony, Nick gave roses to Vanessa and Raven, making Rachel the odd woman out. The next stop for Rachel was the emotional backseat interview, during which she said, “I want someone to have, like, that undeniable, unconditional, unexplainable love for me. And I want to be able to feel it the same way for them.” Well, on May 22, Rachel will have a couple dozen guys to choose from to, hopefully, find “the one.”

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
