When The Fault in Our Stars arrives on Blu-ray today, one of Nat Wolff’s favorite scenes from the book won’t be found in the deleted scenes section. In fact, he never even shot it.

Wolff, 19, plays Isaac, another teen with cancer from Hazel Grace and Gus’s support group. Isaac eventually has to have both of his eyes removed, leaving him blind.

“I like the scene where I was walking with my mom to support group,” Wolff tells Yahoo Movies of a quiet moment from John Green’s bestselling novel that was never included in the screenplay. “I thought it was sad and sweet. She is guiding me around, that kind of thing.”

Before your heart leaps out of your chest and falls to the floor over his sentimental selection, wait until you hear who he would’ve cast to play his mother: “I would have cast my real mom,” he says, without a moment’s hesitation.

Wolff will be joining the some of the gang from Fault, including the producers and screenwriters, for the big screen adaptation of another one of Green’s novels, Paper Towns. The project, which already has a July 31, 2015, release date, finally named a director earlier this month: Robot & Frank’s Jake Schreier. The story follows a teen named Quentin (Wolff) as he searches for his missing childhood crush, cool girl Margo Roth Spiegelman, a role that hasn’t been cast yet. (UPDATE: Shortly after this story was published, model Cara Delevingne was announced to be stepping into Margo’s shoes.)

Wolff assures us that many of the most beloved details from the book remain intact in the screenplay, including Quentin’s pal Radar and his family’s record-setting collection of black Santas.
