The Awesome Roles Sarah Silverman Could Have Played
Sarah Silverman dropped by Watch What Happens Live on Thursday and told host Andy Cohen about two pretty big missed opportunities she’s had in her career. When she was asked about turning down parts in Mad Men and Bridesmaids, Silverman explained, “I 100 percent didn’t turn down roles, I turned down an opportunity to even audition. I have terrible instincts. John Hamm called me when he got the part for Mad Men and said, ‘You should audition for this pilot.’ And I go, ‘Uh, I’m not going to audition for a show on AMC. What is that, an old movie channel?’”
As for Kristen Wiig’s much-beloved comedy, Silverman said, “I got the script for Bridesmaids, and I just read the title and was like, ‘Screw that. Bridesmaids, ooo.’ And they’re both my favorite things. My favorite TV show and my favorite movie, so…”
