Reality TV wouldn’t be thriving without a little drama and 2015 brought it on in a big way. Now we’re counting down the biggest reality star scandals of the year.
5. Teresa Giudice gets put behind bars. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star began her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, in January after she and her husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to fraud charges in March 2014. While she was expected to be in the clink for 15 months, Teresa was released on Dec. 23, just in time to spend the holidays with her family.
4. Kourtney Kardashian’s boyfriend, Scott Disick, gets caught cheating. The parents of three split after nearly 10 years together when photos surfaced in July of him getting cozy with his ex-girlfriend, stylist Chloe Bartoli. But these two have a tendency to reconcile, so time will tell if this break lasts.
3. Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson admits to stepping out on Mama June Shannon. The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars split in September 2014 after the family patriarch was allegedly discovered to have online dating profiles. The surprising split came shortly after their headline-making commitment ceremony. In a recent interview with TooFab, the two confirmed rumors that Sugar Bear had been unfaithful. “My biggest issues was my cheating,” Thompson said. “I’ve done that and shouldn’t have and I look back on it, I regret it.” In true reality star form, the couple took their marital problems to another reality show, Marriage Bootcamp.
2. Brooks Ayers admits to doctoring cancer documents. The Real Housewives of Orange County cast questioned their friend Vicki Gunvalson about her boyfriend’s cancer diagnosis all season long. In November, the hospital where Brooks claimed to be treated revealed he was never a patient. Brooks broke his silence about the controversy, admitting he forged documents. “Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable,” he said in a statement to E! News.
