The ongoing Thai BL series My Stand-In released episode 4 on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. ICT on iQIYI. The drama follows the life of an actor’s stand-in named Joe (Poom Phuripan Sapsangsawat). His life is turned upside down after getting involved with Ming (Up Poompat Iam-samang). Joe is heartbroken upon finding out that Ming sees him as Tong’s replacement. He’s then forced to work on a dangerous set where he meets with an accident. Things take a puzzling turn when Joe wakes up as someone else after dying on set. Here’s a look at episode 4 recap.

Episode 4 of My Stand-In sees Joe avoiding Ming after he mistook him for Tong the night before. Later, Director Pao replaces Tong with Joe for the lead role in the new movie. After thinking about it, Joe decides to take up the leading role. However, Wut asks him to reconsider. Later, Joe tells Wut that Ming dated him because he’s Tong’s stand-in. Therefore, Joe wants to play the lead in the movie to prove that he can also do what Tong can.

Afterward, Joe receives a call from Ming as he didn’t return home and stayed at Wut’s place instead. When Ming asks when he’ll return, Joe tells him to pack his stuff and leave. Later, Ming shows up at the agency to confront Joe. The latter tells him about the Christmas night when Ming hugged him from behind and called him Tong. He says he doesn’t want to get involved and asks to end things. When Ming forces Tong to come home, Sol intervenes. The two then start fighting.

Joe returns home and finds out that Ming is still there. Ming asks the former to forget everything and act like how they were before. However, Joe refuses and says he doesn’t want to be just a stand-in on and off the screen. As Ming hugs Joe and tries to stop him, they are interrupted by Tong’s call.

Tong rants to Ming and informs him about his replacement in the project. The former then asks Ming to stop going to the press conference. Ming is further enraged after finding out Sol will be in the movie too. Furthermore, as Joe turns around to answer Sol’s call, Ming hits his head to make him unconscious. Ming then locks up Joe so he misses the press conference.

Afterward, Ming tries to feed Joe, but the latter refuses to eat. Elsewhere, Pao is furious that Joe didn’t show up at the press conference. Furthermore, Wut asks Tong if he did something to Joe when the latter appears at the event. Meanwhile, Joe thinks of a plan to run away. He asks Ming if he ever loved Joe. When he comes close, Joe kisses Ming, making the latter unchain him. When Ming turns around to take off his shirt, Joe handcuffs him. The latter accuses the former of only having feelings for Tong.

Joe then rushes to Wut to explain how Ming had him locked up. Wut reveals the boss is furious and has blacklisted Joe. This means that no agency will accept him anymore. Joe says he doesn’t have anything else other than his stuntman job. However, Wut says he can’t help him now. Joe then contemplates joining an unlicensed production run by gangsters. Wut and Ja tell him not to do so as the production’s tools aren’t safe. Moreover, if an accident happens, they will not take responsibility. Furthermore, Ming goes to the agency to question Wut about Joe’s whereabouts. However, he’s already gone.

Joe joins the international production and messages Wut that he’s filming at a cliff out of town. Ming then calls Joe and asks to start over, but the latter says it’s too late. However, Ming says he’ll wait for him at home and promises he won’t let Joe be anyone’s stand-in anymore. Suddenly Joe’s phone’s battery dies and their talk remains incomplete. Afterward, Joe gets on a bike to shoot the stunt scene that takes his life.

The episode then cuts to the scene where Joe wakes up in another person’s body and comes across Ming again. Joe returns to the other Joe’s house, where his mom takes care of him. Furthermore, the episode reveals that two years passed since the accident. Sol returned to Korea and visits Thailand occasionally for work. Meanwhile, Tong starred in the movie and it became successful. On the other hand, Ming joined the entertainment industry despite not being interested in it.

Joe also realizes that the international production remained silent about his death. As his parents passed away when he was a kid, the others would have forgotten about the old Joe. The episode ends with Joe returning to his old place and discovering that Ming still lives there.
