Teyana Taylor shared a message against “clickbait” media as alleged details of her divorce from Iman Shumpert continue to be made public. In a note shared to her Instagram story, the 33-year-old confronted TMZ after the tabloid issued a story claiming she and her children were left in the family home without WiFi, cable, and water with additional worries about the gas and electricity.

According to the outlet, Shumpert left Taylor with a $200,000 renovation bill he offered to reimburse for work done at the Georgia residence. Claims include Shumpert not yet paying Taylor any money toward the balance as well as not paying child support or additional expenses for their children, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., 8, and Rue Rose Shumpert, 3.

“Yo @tmz are you serious????” started the actress. “Y’all really be taking it too far with these damn misleading headlines and I’m tired of it! Every time I turn around it’s either half leaked and made up stories, or words being twisted up for clickbait!!!! I kindly asked you mothaf%ckas to mind ya damn business, and for y’all to respect me and my family’s privacy.”

She continued, “I’ve been very GRACEFUL, CORDIAL AND PROTECTIVE OF ALL PARTIES INVOLVED IN THE WHOLE PROCESS. Sadly, that energy has not been reciprocated AT ALL!! But I still walk in GRACE! HOWEVER, I GOT TIME TAH-DAY. Once again from day one…TEYANA HAS NEVER SAID ANYTHINGGGGGGGGGGG TO ANYONE!!!”

In the post, the White Men Can’t Jump star clarified, “I FILED FOR DIVORCE UNDER INITIALS FOR PRIVACY WHICH I KEPT THIS MATTER PRIVATE FOR ALMOST A YEAR UNTIL SOMEONE DECIDED TO FILE A MOTION USING OUR FULL NAMES WHICH THEN MADE OUR DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS PUBLIC FOR THE WORLD TO SEE!”

News of Shumpert and Taylor’s divorce comes after the Harlem native confirmed their separation in September 2023 although the legal documents were filed in January of that same year. In the divorce petition, Taylor accused Shumpert of extreme emotional and mental abuse.

In November 2023, the former NBA star shared a statement through his attorney saying he “hopes parties and counsel can work toward a fair resolution, keeping the best interests of the children of paramount concern.”

Taylor and Shumpert were together for a decade and married seven of those 10 years.
