A Texas man has pleaded guilty to murdering four people, including his ex-girlfriend’s father, in a killing spree across three weeks in the fall of 2020, according to multiple reports.

Jeremy Rashaud Williams will be spending the rest of his life in prison as part of the plea deal, NBC DFW and Fox 4 reported.

On Oct. 31, 2020, Robert Jaden Urrea was shot to death in the middle of the street, as captured by surveillance footage, NBC DFW reported at the time. The 19-year-old pre-law student succumbed to his injuries when he was taken to the hospital.

He was waiting for an Uber on his way home from a Halloween party, Patrcia Weaver, his mother, tells PEOPLE, who says that Harris targeted and "hunted" his victims "as if they weren’t human beings."

Two weeks later, on Nov. 14, Adam Gautreau was fatally shot on an interstate service road, NBC DFW reported.

Less than an hour later, police responded to another shooting about ten miles away from the scene of Gautreau’s death. Responding officers found Jerome Hamilton on the driver's seat suffering from a gunshot wound, and the 57-year-old died shortly after he was taken to the hospital, according to NBC DFW.

Then, on Nov. 18, Harris killed his ex-girlfriend’s father, 60-year-old Blair Carter, before setting the victim's house on fire in Celina, The Celina Record and WFAA reported at the time.

Officers arrested Harris the same day after zeroing in on him using the description of his vehicle provided by witnesses, WFAA reported.

Carter’s daughter, Amber Carter, had filed protective orders against Harris, which he repeatedly violated, according to the Record.

At his sentencing on Tuesday, family members of his victims shared their testimony, according to NBC DFW.

“Today was very emotional, but it was part of the healing process,” Monique Silas, Hamilton's niece, told NBC DFW after the hearing.

Weaver, Urrea's mother, says even though she feared it might be painful to face Harris, she "looked my son’s killer in the eyes" while showing him a photo of Urrea.

She remembers her son as passionate musician who "expressed himself through his music."

"He loved to sing and perform from the time he could talk," she adds. "He was actually shy, but once he had a microphone in his hand and stepped out onto a stage, he became a total rockstar."

Gautreau, 36, was a “kind, caring, always smiling” man who moved to Texas in 2018 to be by his son, according to a GoFundMe set up immediately after his death.

In an obituary posted following his death, Blair's loved ones remembered him as someone with a "never ending positive attitude and infectious smile," who was a "ray of sun shine."

Weaver says she is "pleased" with the verdict and while it means families have justice, she doesn't feel that they have closure.

"How can you have closure when there was no remorse, no motive?" she says.
